Hi ProgEpics,
2 out of 3 ain't bad, I say, that is I agree with you 2 out of 3.
the creator has a mastertape destroys an otherwise perfect In Abstentia. An artist should not try to be "every band"
in the world on a given record. Steven Wilson trying to be Marilyn Manson, just doesn't work here. yuck.
Seamus sucks with the dogs howling. I love the blues(only when prog bands do it.) and the dog whining ruins a good blues tune.
Have a cigar??? WTF??? This is classic Pink Floyd, funky, absolutely KLASSIC synth lead lines, kick ass groovy guitar work, perfect parody & satire of the music bizz. Textbook Pink Floyd. I am simply speachless.

Low Life is an old favorite of mine. I might want to look into getting that deluxe version, I didn't know of the extended version of Elegia... pretty exciting stuff.

College radio playing Elegia got me interested in the band. That album is as far as I have explored. The rest on there is quintessential '80's stuff.

Seasons End - "The Uninvited Guest"
I can't help but think this song is just a straight kick to the crotch for people who suffer of AIDS. I love the rest of the album to bits, but I hate this song.

As my first venture into PT territory was In Absentia I don't get how that ruins the album.
Certainly not one of the most interesting songs there.
Dear man with half body in his avatar picture,
I guess cause it sounds like every other basic death-metal song. And it seems to be about a mass murderer who does
horrible things. I will prolly get a reputaion of being conservative if I say this, but I don't wanna pay money and bring that kinda crap into my world. That is just me and perhaps explains why I like Elton John so much.
I have never seen the point of all the death metal and hate music and utterly negative topics that some songwriters
choose to write about.
Go ahead and call me a "girly-man" I have been called worse.

Nobody blames you for that, dude . I think the song 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' (along with other hits) is out-freaking-standing. I just don't care much for the lyrics of 'The Creator'; I'm more enthralled with the music ... a bit.

So you hate a majority of the album then?
Also, the song has nothing to do with death metal and death metal does have varying lyrics, and isn't like Marilyn Manson at all. He's writing about the serial killer present in many songs on the album, simple.

Good thing "One of These Days", "A Pillow Of Winds", "Fearless", "San Tropez" and "Echoes" constitutes about 95 percent of the record, so it doesn't ruin it that much.
Anyhoo...
"Here Come The Tears" - Sin After Sin "Before The Dawn" - Hellbent For Leather
Both by Judas Priest, BTW. I only have four of their albums (the above two, plus Sad Wings Of Destiny and Stained Class), and it's enough for me to conclude that power ballads aren't their forte, or at least, for every good ballad they did ("Epitaph", "Last Rose of Summer", "Beyond The Realms Of Death"), they'd do a bad one.
He looks at this world and wants it all... so he strikes, like Thunderball!
