I've picked 69 (a pretty number, isn't it?) most famous lead guitarists, appearing on this site as Prog, Proto-Prog or Prog Related artists. They're alphabetically ordered; but I've used only 10 initial letters. Two highest rated guitarists of every poll will advance to the Semi-final.

I'm also preparing a separate round with remaining initial letters of guitarists plus your mostly suggested ones, to make a really fair contest.

Deadline for this round: 10th March

I can never think of any "other" guitarist to start with the letter. Where's a best bassist poll?! (I'm too lazy to do one)

Regardless of their genre you can't have a "W" guitarist list without Johnny Winter or Leslie West.

Laurie Wisefield of Wishbone Ash (and Home) should be here.

I never thought anyone could upstage Andy Powell but when Wisefield joined Wishbone in 1974 he largely took most of the solos from Powell when the 2 of them weren't harmonising. A very underrated lead guitarist.

This thread was moved from "Prog Polls". Interestingly, the 9 previous polls didn't matter to anyone.Confused

Well. This poll is closed. The advancing to Semi-Finals is Steven Wilson.
