Ghost Brigade http://www.ghostbrigade.net/ are a Finnish band usually billed as Progressive Death, and while there are plenty of Opeth style growls and atmospherics on the album I'm familiar with, there is also a significant post-sludge sound that references Neurosis and Cult of Luna too.

The band has released three studio albums to date, the latest being last year's, "Until Fear No Longer Defines Us" on Season Of Mist who's site provides a good detailed biography http://www.season-of-mist.com/bands/ghost-brigade.

The third album (along with their first two) can be streamed here -

And here are some album reviews -

Many thanks.

It's weak on the prog side, but I'll give it a go with the team.

Oop, looks like they've been previously rejected, but the band also has released an album in the time since. Would like us to try a re-evaluation? It would require a unanimous yes vote, but it might be feasible.

Mmm, I'll leave that to you, Andy. Seriously, I really enjoyed the album and while the prog certainly isn't in your face, the structures and references in the albuum made me think it would be a shoe-in.
I'm suggesting I leave it to you as it would need your vote too. If you feel you can support it, it'll be worth pushing it back to the team. If you don't think you'll give it your vote, it fails at the first hurdle, doesn't it? Which would be a shame, but so be it.
Thanks for listening anyway!

Hmm... I'll try to find the whole album and give it a listen, and if I think that I'd vote yes, I'll give it a go.

The whole album is streamable on the myspace link given by Chris in the o.p. (In fact all their albums are streamable in full at myspace). This band was originally evaluated based solely on their first album by the look of it: http://progfreak.com/Ghost-Brigade-92977.html?path=pa/recent. They were rejected 4 years ago - before 'Isolation Songs' was released, but then UMUR added them back into the chart a year later (presumably because the new album had just been released) and voted 'yes'...but nobody else from the team at that time voted, so it seems to have just hung in mid-air ever since. Shocked
Sounds like a mixed bag overall to me, but despite this I reckon there's definitely enough prog contained within these albums to get them in now.

I just listened to their new 2014 stuff today,an awesome album,they are one of my favorite bands,but exactly like KATATONIA,they have the loss of elements to fit in prog,they are Atmospheric Sludge/Death,the best explanation possible,and sure not prog,maybe 10% prog only.but this doesn't mean that they are not an EPIC LOVELY BAND

My goodness - this was a difficult evaluation on the face of it:

Ghost Brigade

DateUserChartAction
5yUMURMetal (UMUR)
7yburritounitMetal-> Rejected
7yburritounitMetal (burritounit)
7yburritounitMetal (burritounit)
7yburritounitMetal (burritounit)
7yburritounitMetal (burritounit)
7yburritounitMetal-> Discuss
7yThe TMetal (The T)
7yburritounitMetal (burritounit)
7yTheProgtologistMetal (TheProgtologist)
7yburritounitMetal-> New

There was only one absolutely outright 'no' vote (burritonit changed his vote three times - as well as adding a 'need time' and 'discuss' entry into the chart.

There was also an outright 'yes' vote from UMUR even after the official rejection had been confirmed, and the whole make up of the Prog Metal team has now changed, so I'm wondering if maybe the current team might want to take a fresh look based on the most recent albums (the latest album, referred to by Aziz above, is called IV – One With the Storm'  and is due for release on Friday 7th November - or Tuesday 11th if you are in the USA - making it two since the last evaluation)? It would require unanimous support from the current team to get them in, which might be a bridge too far, but at least we could then wrap this one up once and for all - one way or the other. Embarrassed

The new album can be streamed via the Ghost Brigade record label partners listed on the following page - depending on where in the World you are based: http://www.season-of-mist.com/bands/ghost-brigade.

And here's the official teaser:

 Thumbs Up
