When are the cosmic Yes fans going to chime in this thread with a little more
unconditional love and understanding?

(teasing only a little)

I say whatever Yes does, more power to them.

Most classical artists stay actively touring well into their 90's.  Yes
deserve at least double that.

Remember, the original guys are really St. Germain characters
faking their aging.

I thought I did that already. (Though I did bash Geoff Downes on keys quite a bit...Confused)

I will say, if you haven't heard Glass Hammer - If.  Check it out.   Smile    (Uh, cause the new YES singer sang on that recordWink)   And yes he does dress his hair & tee shirts annoyingly like Steve Wilson.

Too bad Geoff doesn't seem to be able to play even "half" as good as KE.

I loved Drama when it came out and I still do.  I saw Benoit David YES twice to see Machine Messiah live, but
in recent live concerts w/YES Downes has been embarassingly pathetic.  There is a video of Downes playing HOTS, he ruins it so bad that Steve Howe screams:  NO!  NO!   NO! during the live show!   It seems like Downes is lost
on keyboards if he is not playing basic 4/4 music like he does in Asia.  Does Downes in YES drive anybody else crazy?
I don't think Downes is taking his role is YES serious at all. He sees himself as some famous rock star, so he doesn't think he needs to practice anymore...

Oh no, now I am bashing YES, like that guy Laz....     Shocked

last summer geoff was really low in the mix. i hope they tour some smaller venues like they did for the ladder tour.  they cannot do arenas anymore.  even with jon, they didn't sell enough tickets.

@Dennis-yeah, 90125 is about half good.  it's not prog, but really good pop.  chris is too low in the mix though.  cinema>leave it is awesome.  as is hold on and it can happen.

Actually, that might be interesting, just to see what would happen if anyone as gloomy as Steven Wilson tried to sing "Close to the Edge" or "Roundabout."

Apart from all the line up changes turmoil, it's nice to see that they are still active as a band.
It's almost 45 years now that the band is there, isn't it? Quite amazing.

Hi Moogtron III,  Smile

You summed it up perfectly.  The alternative to this is "no" touring YES.  And I certainly do not support that, frankly
as the lads approach their 70's we should cherish every last tour, nobody has to buy a ticket if they are so put off...

Current YES concerts are no Yessongs Tour, but they do contain awesome moments that are prized additions
to any prog fan's music collection, for example, recent versions from Live From Lyon:

Astrall Traveller
Machine Messiah
Tempus Fugit
YIND - a nice surprise, amazing guitar work from Steve
(Can we get Parallels on an official release?)

Cheers!

My dear infandous,

Haven't you got some work to do? Like hook up your 5.1 system???  Hmm..

Ok, I should have clarified, first: I bought Yesshows when you were still in diapers.Wink

Second:  I would like YES live recordings that are an upgrade from those that sound like they were recorded on a portable cassette player, such as Yessongs & Yesshows.

Uhm Kay???LOL

Yeah, I love the more modern (1996 S.L.O. and more recent) YES live recordings for their hi-fi nature.  I do love my bootlegs when there is no other option(the 1977 mono GFTO tour is my favourite boot) but there is no substitute for a hi-fi stereo mix or 5.1 mix of a concert.

Please do check out live TFK or YES or RUSH in 5.1 and you will see what I am on about.  Big smile

I am actually excited for this lineup....Jon Davison has some serious vocalist chops, he has the Yes tradition from his former Yes trib band "Roundabout" as well as Glass Hammer projects, and he'll bring a much more mature stage presence than Benoit David!  All that twirling around....

Looking forward to New Zealand Youtube concert postings to appear soon!  In the meantime, check out Jon's imitation of, well, Jon.....
