Could someone explain to me the difference between かっこいい and かっこよ. They both apparently mean the same thing, but I assume they're for different situations or placement in sentences.

^ "かっこいい", good (or cool) appearance in English ... appearance is "かっこう (格好)" in Japanese and good, fine, or cool is "いい (よい, 良い)" but typically we use "かっこいい", not "かっこよい" nor "格好良い", never "かっこよ". Thumbs Up

Noun replacement

The 「の」 particle can also replace the noun entirely when it's understood by the context.

Examples

  1. 赤い 【あか・い】 - red
  2. どれ - which
  1. 赤いは、好き。
    Like the red one.
  2. スミスさんは、どれですか?
    Which one is Smith-san's?

Just for clarification, the の in the above examples replaces things like 車, right? As in "スミスさンくるまは、どれですか"?

I know what nouns are Tongue I basically want to know if the placement is still correct.

It's been one month and one week since I started studying Japanese. How's the progress so far?

Japanese Kanji is difficult even for us Japanese people.
You can use Hiragana and Japanese words enough well ... need more effort to use conjunctions. Clap

In Russia at the moment (in the middle of nowhere), so will not have much time to contribute, but hopefully I'll be able to post more regularly in about two weeks.
