I love The Smashing Pumpkins, if that counts? A lot of their stuff is kind of gothic in atmosphere and lyrically. They always had kind of more gothic image, especially during the Gish era, when compared to their fellow Alternative/ Grunge peers like Nirvana, Alice In Chains - plaid shirts, ripped jeans, etc. Billy Corgan was always kind of a tortured, depressed guy and that reflected through their music. As far as 80's stuff goes, I like The Cure and Bauhaus.

^ many of those are not Gothic Rock in the accepted sense of the word, though they all are 80s Rock artists a Goth would probably like.

Furthermore, before Dead or Alive, the singer (I don't remember his name) fronted Nightmares On Wax (not to be confused with some techno/electro act of the 90's).

Excuse me, sir, do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior, Neptune, god of the Sea?

Thanks for the info guys. I did not know this about Pete Burns and Co., prior to "You Spin Me Round". I'd like to hear some of that pre-pop style of their music.
