For me, Heart of the Sunrise isn't the Highlight. For me, it's "South Side of the Sky".

Maybe not THE highlight, but at least one of the highlights, that's for sure. Rick's piano solo and a variation of that on the organ with the rest of the group backing up ... [a chef's gesture of something delicious] muah! And the modulations, man, the modulations ... and the way they close the track, psch-h-h-h-h-h ... .

To me it is. It has Jon's best vocal performance and a killer rhythm section that, for once, isn't tarnished by noodling or some solo.
That's why this is one of my favorite Yes songs. Unlike most of their other material, this song has a very soothing, graceful feeling to it. Much like a sunrise.

Heart of the Sunrise is my 2nd favourite Yes song, next to The Revealing Science of God.

Jazz-rock conspiracy? Zappa and Miles played at the same festivals in the summer of '69 right BEFORE Hot Rats AND Bitches Brew were recorded. |
