The album version is pretty long.. 6:25 it says.... can it be longer? Maybe you really mean the album version. I bet there was a radio edit version , but not on the album... |
Where does it say 6:25? The album version was just over 3 minutes. The CD release put the long version on instead,

Okay, that's right. I have the cd version.
But since the long version is on the cd you should be able to nominate that track (I hope). Apparently it is now regarded as the official Cell 151 version since it is just named "Cell 151" without any "extended version" added. This is the version I've always been listening to.

Yes I can vote for it but technically I am voting for the short version as this is what was released in 1982 actually. I don't suppose it makes any difference either way.
Actually it does. I am not voting for it any more.

Question is: is it prog? 'Cause Capt. Fongsby pointed out a few times that Games Without Frontiers isn't prog.

Art Zoyd - Phase IV - La Nuit Maurizio Bianchi - Mectpyo Bakterium - Fetish Pinksha
Etron Fou Leloublan - Les Poumons Gonfles - Christine
A nod to Urban Sax & Pierre Henry's "Fight" off Paradise Lost (not in the archives), and I would've nominated Prat's Masal had it not been already mentioned. And considered Katra Turana strongly.

Well, it's in the PA archives, and I'd argue that it is prog....Manzanera does some very nice, unconventional things with his guitar, as always, and the synth parts are sublime.
I'd also say that Games Without Frontiers is prog as well. Maybe my parameters are not as strict as others. There was a lot of interesting experimentation & crossover music being made in the early to mid-1980's, much of which was outside the boundaries of "prog" as some define it on this site.
I was bassist to Bob Fripp's student Alonzo Jones and his band "CAVU" at that time, we did all sorts of wild stuff that was definitely prog! It blended folk prog, eclectic & fusion prog, world music, pop....heady jams and good stuff. Guitar synths were still very new, rack effects were in common usage, etc.
I know that many on this site rather dis the '80s, but they were remarkable times on many levels.

I concur with KC "Beat" - many good songs on that album! My two favorites: 1) Neurotica; and, 2) Requiem...
