I've done that to Venusian Summer myself.  Although my office is in my home, so it's not a long walk from any other part of my home, and instead of headphones, I sometimes just turn up the volume on my stereo so I can hear it from any room (it's a pretty small place, sadly).

^No need for room if you've got music! Although space, or indeed the lack of it, sometimes can be a hazzle with all the cds and whatnot. I need a shed.

I envy you Greg - being able to work from your home, although I am rather chuffed with not having to house 350 kids in my home on a daily basis.

And I envy you, David.  I would much rather be with 350 kids in a school than trying to do work at home while having two kids trying to get my attention.  I taught here: http://www.shimadagakuen.ed.jp/t-meitoku/index.html  Really miss it.

Well if you put it that way, I can certainly see the attraction in getting out the door to work.
Just out of curiosity, do you speak Japanese - and is that why you've grown so fond of music from that part of the world? I love that stuff myself, but I only understand whenever words like Sake and Arregatto come up.

I knew a little Japanese before going to Japan, but I was pretty much forced to learn the language very quickly when I went there (not to say that I spoke it fluently, hardly, but enough to easily communicate and I still have a pretty big vocabulary -- I do think to some extent in Japanese, but then my wife and I use a lot of Japanese words when we talk to each-other -- she had also worked in Japan teaching)  I go back to Japan every few years for visits, but I have forgotten most of my Japanese.  When i go to a Japanese restaurant I have this desire to speak in Japanese, but am too embarrassed, and when i have tried, they have answered me back in English.

That part of the world just grew in me.  It's not because of the language, though I love the language, but because I feel a strong connection with the place.  I feel like Japan is my home, especially around Kyoto, more than where I live now.  And I always want to go back.  I was offered a teaching job there recently, but with my wife's work and kids, it's harder.  I love Japanese films as well as music.  My heart is in Japan, and I am attracted to the culture as well as the place.

I really want to visit Scandinavia soon, by the way. I'm part Swede and have quite a few relatives there.

Thanks for the explanation. Great little story, and I love the fact that you take the time out to tell it.
I have always wanted to go, partly because I am enthralled by their culture, but mostly because I am taken aback by the immense discipline they transcribe onto their lives.

Sweden is great too, much like Denmark now that I think of it. Beautiful women and music, although they have mountains there.
