Out of the few I know, Ocean is my favorite. After that, Floating and then Ocean 2.

I love Eloy. It's a very difficult choice. But I'll go with Power And The Passion, my first album of theirs.

Inside-the master album, followed by the debut. Both feature the great bassist Wolfgang Stocker. Well, all of the playing on the first two albums is great

Here's my rankings. I'll include worthy bonus tracks on the remasters as part of the session. I haven't got the debut album though and I stopped after Planets. Metromania has a crap drum sound so I won't buy that one 1 Planets-fine composing, mainly good recording 8.5/10 2 Time to turn-better recording and almost as good composing as planets 8.5/10 3 Silent cries and mighty echoes-some strong tracks, a couple of mild yawners, a couple of nice bonus tracks 8/10 4 Power and the passion-mutiny is one of the great prog songs, really solid album, nice short tracks too 8/10 5 Colours-consistently solid, nice bonus track 8/10 6 Dawn-Midnight fight awesome, solid album, a couple of mild yawners 8/10 7 Performance-some great and some not so great 7.5/10 8 Floating-pretty good album 7.5/10 9 Ocean-some strong moments but a few yawning moments 7/10 10 Inside-some good stuff, a bit raw in composition though 7/10

I wonder why we can't include live albums in these polls, as Eloy Live (1978) is one of the few Eloy albums I enjoy listening to in preference to the few Eloy albums I own which rarely make it onto my CD player.

Ocean, with Silent Cries at a close second. The rest of their discography is kind of meh.

I don't care for Eloy's earlier and later albums, but their mid period was great. My ranking goes something like this:
1 Planets 2 Silent Cries and Mighty Echoes 3 Colours 4 Ocean 5 Time to Turn -- 6 Performance 7 Metromania
Pretty much a three-way tie at the top, though.
P.S. I love Matziol's bass playing. He may not have been a virtuoso the likes of Squire and Lee, but... I love Matziol's bass playing.

I do like your rankings although I've never had a problem with Metromania.
All time worst Eloy album has to be Ra. Now if you want to hear a really crap drum sound that has it in spades
