Seriously, dude, get a life, you know. You are just wasting your time. Take out the trash. Write a piece of music. Plant a tree. Build a house. Give birth to a child.

A bit of a slump album to me, I'm afraid. Excellent musicianship as always, but relatively weak in the songwriting department, IMO.
I'll be voting for the plinkety-plonk Lullaby till it's gone.

And yes, A Reunion is beautiful, I hope people aren't voting for it simply because it's the shortest. |
Experience is one of the best songs of the album.

Almost perfect list. You'll just have to change Way of Life and Experience in order and that would make a perfect list in my personal opinion.

A Reunion.
Not because it's short, but the chorus is a bit boring, and it's something about the singing which isn't great.
Another soft song which works much better is Think of Me With Kindness from Octopus, but it builds up from soft to loud. "A Reunion" is soft all the way, no energy or dynamics.

Not to me. Still a very good song though.

And provides a refreshing change in the album.

True. I see why this could be off-putting, but I personally don't mind because the short is so short that it never exhausts itself to the point of needing to change. Two verses and two choruses are just the right length. "Think of Me With Kindness" is actually one of my least favorite GG songs from their "classic" phase. I've learned to appreciate it over time, but I'm still not 100% sold on the vocal melody. I actually believe GG never made a bad song until "Empty City" and "Timing". After listening to "Experience" again, I realized that my problem wasn't the "heavy" riff (although I still find the part where it goes up and down on the same three notes a bit silly) but more the "choral" vocal section by Kerry. It's disruptive and I find the vocal arrangement and the church organ too bombastic. Still a good song on the whole. The instrumental sections are killer.

Maybe? "Bad" might have been an exaggeration (although it holds true for "Timing"), but I don't like the verse melody even though the atmosphere is very pleasant, and the transition between the soft and heavy parts is unfitting. It feels less like a song and more like a construction that groups together two unrelated themes.
