Reading these posts, my nostalgia level for final exams is identically zero.

I despise finals, but I know they have to be done, and I know that I have test anxiety which sucks more. haha So I try to do really well throughout the rest of the course so it doesn't screw me up that much. Although this is just my first year of college, we'll see... haha

I would never cheat in a relationship... That would require TWO people finding me attractive. ..I can barely find one.

Do you guys have your college finals this week or sometime around here?I was studying with someone and they pointed out that my finals are 40% of my grade and I nearly fainted.I HATE finals. HATE HATE HATE. I developed this HATE last year when I got 10 points on average below my previous grade in all my classes - i.e. I was a 85 student, I get a 72 final, I end up with a grade barely making it into the 80s. I HATE that crap. You should be judged on your performance throughout the course. If I get a C all my privileges will be taken away (single room among them). Well that is my rant. Is there anyone here who LOVES finals? Do you study like crazy? Or just relax and get into the mindset? Are you wringing your hands? Are you cursing under your breath? How do you feel about leaving campus or ending school and the people you've met? I don't usually worry but I met someone I like a lot this semester.... plus I always worry I get rusty and stupid while I'm on vacation.... Ni Ne? (as will be on my Chinese Final, meaning; and you?)
| I don't take them anymore. I give them. It's something an instructor should be giving serious thought to - how much weight to give to the components of students' grade. One line of thought is that students may not show immediate mastery of x, y or z because they're in the middle of the learning process. They should not be penalized heavily if they started out relatively poorly, but successfully demonstrated learning by the end of the course. On the other hand, students can be demonstrating achievements in learning throughout a course, and it's a shame to see any of them blow it on one stressful occasion. It's different for different students, but instructors have to go by what's on the syllabus. I normally try to balance out the final and the rest of the course. Thinking about myself as a student, I think I had more term papers than finals, frankly. Those were my headache.

Oh, god, I love those two. I didn't at the time, but now that I think back to it, ... I just wish I could spend a little more time on them.
So, good news: I got B+ for CS326 (Programming Languages, Concepts, and Implementation) (think the guy was just being generous ... Merry Christmas!) and MATH330 (Linear Algebra) and an A- for CS281 (Introduction to Game Development). Waiting for the hideous results for CS477 (Analysis of Algorithms).

Ah! Finally a grade for EE220: got an 82.05/100 for the final on Circuits, which, according to the class' grading policy is B+. Overall grade: 84.18%. Looks like I've just come out with an A, a B, and 2 C's. Quite lower than what my expectations have been, ... oh, well. |
If its a straight A,B, and double C, then the GPA is something like 2.8. So close to 3.0! You only need one B instead of a C. 3.0 is usually the gateway to privileges.......; 3.20 + is deans list at my school. I usually get that; 3.8 or something is like area 51 to me, I don't know what's there, but I bet its good! |
Long overdue on my part, but ... yeah! That's how I almost lost my Good Student Discount.

I've got a Physics, Calculus and Pathophysiology test and an English paper due next week. Oddly I prefer studying for exams; papers seem like too much busy work...

I feel shattered after my CS326 (Programming Languages, Concepts, and Implementation) exam. It's like as if some of the stuff on it we haven't even covered in depth ... which, I think, we haven't. Think I'm gonna get at least a C- for the exam and for the class, though I don't want that to turn out. Think I also did rather ... OK on the CS281 (Introduction to Game Development) exam. How I don't want a really low grade on that one. And if I do, then I will come out with a C+, at least. Great. Just for the semester when I did not plan to come out with any C's. When am I ever gonna use ALL of this information? As for the Math 330 (Linear Algebra) exam, think I did very well. I may come out with a B for the exam and for the class.

Considering my success at TMCC (Truckee Meadows Community College), so far my current cumulative GPA is 3.339, so I'm sweet .

Under usual circumstances, I would feel the same way, but I feel slightly at a disadvantage that I wasn't made aware of the low grade until nearly the last minute. I really only had two grade opportunities to bring it up.
