Since before I bought them, I found several similarities in this two albums. First, they are both the first solo albums from Genesis guitar players, they both include Mike Rutherford on bass, and Phil Collins shares vocals in some of the songs. They both sing in a song from their own album. They both use flute (and have John Hackett as flute player). And they both have a bunch of other instruments to complement their sound. So, which one do you like better?

Two great albums from two of my favorite artists.  I prefer Voyage of the Acolyte.

I prefer Acolyte; one of my favourite Genesis solo albums. Geese is also great but a little more subdued.
A GREAT YEAR FOR PROG!!!

I like Geese more because of the medieval feel throughout. Both are quite good though.

Oooops, sorry, and thanks, already fixed it.

I did like both, but I guess I'll have to go with Acolyte itself, for it is a bit more varied and not so subdued. Plus, I like Shadow of the Hierophant best of all songs on both albums.

Sorry but Geese has too much 12-string guitar. I guess if you love 12-string guitar then you'll love Geese but I prefer a bit more variety in my music (by the way Voyage is a brilliant piece of music and worthy of the best of Genesis music).

Voyage of the Acolyte. Against Wise after the Event, this would be a harder nut to crack for me.

Had 'em both on vinyl at one time.  I used to love Geese but Hackett's release has stood the test of time better.

Heh, heh, that's the old standing joke: "Q: What's the best Genesis album?  A: Voyage of the Acolyte."

It sure gets my vote.

Eh, the geese all come around and act like they own the place and crap all over, so I'm going to have to go with Voyage.

I think I'll give it up for the Ghost though for being less like a Genesis album.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

The Geese and the Ghost was the album that got me into the wider world of prog. I've never been a huge Voyage fan.
