80s - Marillion
90s - Dream Theater
00s - Riverside
10s - Steven Wilson? Discipline? I dunno, it's a bit too soon to say really

70s (and 80s) were the toughest choice, as expected

I suppose technically not a band then. Discipline i guess in that case, though I expect we haven't yet seen the best band of the 10s.

Of these selections, I only consider the albums each band released in each specific decade.
1930s - The Carter Family
1940s - Undecided for now: Working choice: Hank Williams
1950s - Undecided for now: Working choice: Sam Cooke
1960s - The Beatles
1970s - Pink Floyd
1980s - Tom Waits
1990s - Ween
2000s - Radiohead
2010s - So far? Nobody. We're early in yet but I got little hope.

Kinda unfair, though. I like Stevie Wonder's 1970s output twice as much as Radiohead's 2000s output, I only happen to like Pink Floyd's 1970s output a little bit more. I also forced myself not to choose one artist multiple times.

Bands, musicians, artists, groups what-have-ya.
