The Musical Box don't want him muscling in on their territory. Tongue
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Another one of the heroes from the past who have decided its not worth the effort to put out new work and can make a very good living repackaging the past.  Maybe they feel there is not a bif enough audience for newer material.  Don't get me wrong, I liked the orchestral material, but there seems to be number of artists going this route.  Roger Waters "The Wall" is spectacular, Billy Joel is anotherthat comes to mind quickly.  A new song or two would be a nice bonus.

Rolling Stone magazine did an interview of Peter Gabriel discussing So, his new tour, and his future.  http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/q-a-peter-gabriel-reflects-on-his-1986-landmark-album-so-20120904?link=mostpopular4
