Kapia comes to mind as a predecessor to Anglagard, I believe they were on the tail end of the 70's symphonic movement.
Kaipa and Trettioariga Kriget as well, they started around the same time. From what I've read it seems that Trettioariga Kriget was a big influence for Anglagard.

I like Ur Kaos, Samla Mammas Manna, Zamla Mammaz Manna, Von Zamla, Kultivator, and Ensemble Nimbus.  Kornet is good.

A particular favourite of mine is Bjorn J:son Lindh.  I really love this:

Big fan of the psychedelic Swedish Krautrock bands from the 70s - such as Kebnekaise, Älgarnas Trädgaard, International Harvester, Fläsket Brinner and Archimedes Badkar.
All of these bands display some of the same charismatic trades, that although sounding completely insane, do put them in the same sonic landscapes as Amon Düül, Xhol Caravan and other early sound explorers coming out of Germany - except for the fact that they incorporated this weird and highly gelatinous endemic folk vibe into the proceedings - making them sound completely original and Swedish.
I like everything else Logan just posted as well - including that Bjørn J;son Lindth record. Yummy!

I can never understand why Par Lindh Project is off so many people's radar when talking about Swedish Prog.
 
Albumwise Veni Vidi Vici is probably my favourite closely followed by Mundus Incompertus. Both are excellent modern symph prog albums. Par's biggest influences are Keith Emerson/ELP and Rick Wakeman .
 
Of some interest perhaps is that he founded the Swedish Art Rock society back in the nineties.

These guys are fantastic. I just stumbled over this live performance by them, and although it's from 1998, there is no sign of them giving up on the old blurry and psychedelic caterpillar:

You are so lucky. That is my dream concert. Unfortunately, neither band seems to want to tour the US.

Hear hear! I've mentioned them a page back! I think they might be my personal favourite Swedish psych act. I just love the acid folk feel they've incorporated on the first album.

Dungen has some really progressive moments, and a GREAT drummer. Moon Safari is pretty sweet though. Checked that out just now.
Pharmaceutical Band Names: Edematous Ratheads, The Formulations, Test Bunny, The Approval Board, The Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Band, Sterile but Unstable, and finally, Almost Music by Pfizer

Both bands have been to the US afaik. The Flower Kings have done at least two North American tours playing both US and Canadian cities.
Unfortunately PoS I a loved them is no more. The only reminding member now is Daniel Gildenlöv and they sound nothing like the band I learned to love any more. I was fortunate to see them live a couple of times during Remedy Lane and Be and I will ave fond memories of those concerts a long time.

I agree with a prior poster that clumping together all bands from Sweden under one flag is a tad useless. Let's start a UK Prog bands topic..... Cool

To stay on topic Black Bonzo and Ritual are two really good often forgotten Swedish bands that never seem to get the credit they deserve.

Anglagard, Anekdoten & Sinkadus are all faves and all have nice Mellotron which reminds me of the 70's which I still love.

Gösta Berlings Saga is an awesome instrumental eclectic band, which sounds like nothing else I've ever heard.
