I'm shooting for some good symphonic. I really enjoy the whole Anima Morte deal, but I feel like it's not quite "pretty" enough for me. I find Anglagard to have a better gorgeous/evil combo to it. It's really about having that extra instrument that adds a bit more complexity to it and makes it sound a bit extra evil to me.

I really want to find more music like this. Some solid just straight EVIL sounding symphonic music. Dissodance like crazy, lush orchestration, long sets of minor chords like Rachmoninov or Liszt would use. But I don't want metal, as I have delved pretty deeply into the whole symphonic black metal and the like. I want to take a step back from the always frightening and go for a more creepy/dark vibe.

RIO/Avant can also work as groups like Art Zoyd do what I am looking for as well.

Smile Thanks in advance guys! I love being able to just throw ideas of what I want on this website and people are always so willing to help.

This is the first thing that comes to mind - a one-off collaboration between members of the Swedish bands Anekdoten and Landberk.  Instrumental spooky Mellotron madness.

Yes, Univers Zero's Heresie is a good pick, as well as Present's La Posion Qui Rend Fou.  Also, Fabio Frizzi's The Beyond:

All of these are great guys! you know, I have missed out on a lot of Universe Zero's stuff. I really need to check more of it out. That Fabio Frizzi Beyond OST was fking great! And Horizont was good too- And I am surprised I have never heard of symphonic halocaust as I love both anekdoten and landberk!

If you like Univers Zero, maybe you'll like Miriodor too.

Nice to hear you enjoy Anima Morte, some have already suggested Fabio Frizzi, but I would also recommend Goblin, especially the Suspiria soundtrack.

Perhaps not many know that Nicklas from Anekdoten also did a soundtrack that is well worth checking out. It is called El Ultima De Fin Semana. http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=6671

Also if you want darker stuff than Anima Morte perhaps check out my solowork which is more experimental and classicaly oriented but could appeal to you if you like dark music.

If you liked Anglagard, you'll love the darker side of Par Lindh Project:

Iconoclast

The Cathedral Part I

The first PLP album (Gothic Impressions, was recorded with his band plus Bjorn Johansson, Anglagard (Except one member if I'm not wrong), Roine Stolt and The Cameratta Vocalis.

Kotebel of course, the dark/light/symphonic/avant/fusion sound they make is of the best things that happened to prog in the last 10 years, IMHO:
