I was thinking the same thing.
Voted Foxtrot.

I think the only way I vote for Genesis over Yes would be SEBTP vs. Big Generator.

Foxtrot. Both are excellent albums, but there are a few superfluous songs on Fragile that take it down a notch.

Yes trumps genesis by probably 2 stars for me. I'd say Fragile is at the 4.5-5 star range and Foxtrot the 2.5-3 (for me).

Never quite understood the high praise for Foxtrot, some of the songs are ok but nothing more for my taste. Fragile is not perfect but it is still superb, I'm definitely going with it.

Fragile, easily. Excellent Wakeman's entrée, the last Bruford's album. My favourite bass line on "Long Distance Runaround". General sound of the album is very massive, sharp and compact. Five stars without doubt!
On the other hand, I don't share the general enthusiasm of the album Foxtrot, especially Supper's Ready. I rate it by 3,5 stars only.

Foxtrot is the more consistent, IMO.

Strong moments coupled with cheesy moments... that could describe a good portion of albums by both bands. For a couple of decades I would have taken Foxtrot (my fave album for years) over Fragile, and Genesis over Yes in general, although I loved both bands at one time. Now, I appreciate the fact that Yes seems more uninhibited (to me), letting loose and actually rocking out more, whereas Genesis seems too 'controlled' and a bit posh for my tastes these days. I rarely listen to either anymore (and Genesis never, really) although every note of both albums are etched in my brain from decades of listening. So, Fragile over Foxtrot. Roundabout is still one of the best things ever recorded by any band (prog or not), and SSotS and Heart of the Sunrise are monsters as well. With Foxtrot, only the 9/8 section of Supper's Ready still excites me (it's pure genius, wonderful goth madness - Genesis never did anything remotely like it again).

Actually, Close to the Edge also had Bruford.

I think that Fragile is more consistent, but the best parts in Foxtrot are better then anything Yes had ever done... so I have to go with Foxtrot... (first vote btw )

True really. And what can you do in 35 seconds? Well, five percent OF nothing - maybe even less :-) Libor

Fragile sounds amazing even today---fresh, and original, tight ---Foxtrot sounds dated and the two great songs on it sound better on the live albums.

Actually, I realized that I rank the album Foxtrot in the third place from the end, when we talk about Gabriel's Genesis. But I admit that my opinions are somewhat different from general views on this site.
