Props to SillyPuppy for the Art Zoyd and National Health reviews, you just don't see those particular albums mentioned much. Thankyou

Well I have to say it again, because he is one of the few reviewers where I actually stop and immediately read when he posts a review.....I LOVE Conor Fynes' writing, his love of music, and his reasoned assessments. And as a bonus he judiciously rates albums in the spirit of the guidelines for the different star descriptions.
Thanks Conor and have some clappies |

Michael I just read your review of that Suono! record. I'm tracking that one down for sure. Anything that's not polished and has character is right up my alley. Great review man!

That's a great album, and I totally agree with Michael's review. If you want to read my own point of view, here it is: http://www.dprp.net/reviews/201425.php#distillerie |

I just caught that one, I knew you'd like it ma man but I never thought it would turn into a 5 star album! Thanks for the honorable mention too! I was really surprised to see you reviewing this album, I thought you already forgot about it, keep up the good work. BTW I think their debut would also be an excellent addition to your collection...if you can find it.

Raff you have such an incredible way with words, thanks for that.
Sagi why weren't you hounding me about this one? It's on my "to get" list.

Cheers Raff, John, Sagi!
My credit goes to Sagi! My friend, you kept mentioning that title to me! I order heaps of Italian discs, but that was one that simply got past me. It wasn't total love at first listen, but then all of a sudden it fell into place. Now I can't stop listening to it, and it just gets better and better on heaps of plays. Thank you! Great review too, Raff! |

Great Jon & Vangelis review Michael and thanks for the mention!
JD's and Silly Puppy's latest reviews were a very interesting read as well. |

Cheers, Sam, my pleasure! I probably would never have bothered with the album if you hadn't mentioned it. It's nothing too special, but it has some worthwhile spots. Although I got the CD damn cheap, I still probably paid a couple of dollars too much!

I saw a LP copy of it the other day, but there are a lot of Vangelis albums I should get before.

aglasshouse's review of The Wall is spot on, I fully agree although I can apreciate a bit more thanks to my ability to ignore lyrics

^ the ability to ignore lyrics helps on the receiving end, but I just wish that all bands would cut the cr@p .. sorry, I meant drop or de-emphasize the lyrics .. and concentrate on playing some lovely music instead :)
I likewise agree with this aglasshouse's review, and I also rated The Wall "for those who have nothing else to listen to", or whatever? Same subject, different band: When Steven Wilson starts spinning his yarn on FOABP, mumbling and garbling through the most depressing story of life-weary teens who get stoned and pass out in front of their computers, I feel like, "OK, Wilson, I hear you, and you sure are a helluva wordsmith, but please feel free to shut the uck fup any time and play us some tunes!". |

^ So true, that's why I prefer The Endless River to The Wall
Did you ever listen to the early recordings of the album from the 2011 remasters? I kind of prefer some of those to the final result: Gilmour and Wright seem to play more freely and Waters doesn't sound as crazy I never paid attention to his lyrics: once I was playing 'Blackest Eyes' and a friend started laughing at the lyrics. I felt like I didn't know the song at all I also get that feeling when I listen to Gates of Delirium from Yes or Hemispheres (the track) from Rush for example. |

^ No, I have not listened to those remasters. I kind of wrote The Wall off long ago, and recently bought these instead: http://www.discogs.com/Pink-Floyd-The-Wall-Singles-Collection/release/3249944
TER is a true delicacy Blackest Eyes is not the most deranged among Wilson's creations. My ex-wife, who is up to her eyeballs into Wilson's poetry engaged in lengthy and meandering online disputes with her fellow Wilsonites about the hidden meaning of his lyrics. Fripp be my witness, some of the interpretations were much more disturbing than the source material.

^ How's the 4 minute edit of Comfortably Numb? Did they cut the guitar solo?
One Of My Turns and Don't Leave Me Now are the tracks I like less in it Well, I was never into poetry in high school, most of the times I couldn't even get a single interpretation from those but I understand that it's like music: everyone (that cares about it) has its own opinion and feelings about it even if many others don't agree sometimes I wish my teacher had taught Petrus Castrus' Ascenção e Queda on portuguese classes though, I would certainly be more attentive |

^ you may want to visit this new thread and contribute to the discussion about the conflict between Mr. (W)right and the other one, and how it affected the sound of The Wall.
http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=100773&PID=5102641#5102641 I can't remember about the Comfortably Numb; I might spin it tomorrow and report the results. The single version of Another Brick (II) lacks my all-time favorite, 'If you don't eat yer meat .. '. I don't know if you should be mentioning Castro and Al-Queda here on PA; these are bad, bad people. Although Mr. Obama has recently partially pardoned Castro, or so it would seem.
