I liked Greg's review on To Keep From Crying from Comus, but not sure why he dropped his rating from 4 stars down to 3 because he felt that other Comus fans wouldn't agree. He did an excellent job distinguishing the merits of this more upbeat album from the dark lords of prog folk's nearly infamous first album First Utterance. At least enough for me to give To Keep From Crying another spin with a fresh perspective.

And that's what a good review is all about. Good job, Greg. Thumbs Up

Some great reviews here recently and I too adored Greg's review of the much maligned follow-up to First Utterance.
You should do more reviews my friend - hell we all should!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. I was captchad and lost another version of the review which had the same approach but was more concise (I should have been more careful, the "copy" had not taken). The one I posted I wrote hurriedly and sloppily and it required some edits, but in the edits I worried that the review became too long-winded and sermonizing. As for dropping my rating and giving that reason, it was a wimpy thing to do, but I felt that three is a fair rating to give it for the music here no matter how much I enjoy it. I was writing a different reason which I thought humorous, but it was over-the-top.

Michael ( Aussie-Byrd) who has been a review machine the last little bit, once again struck me over the head with beautiful word smithing. ;)

Metamorfosi's Purgatorio.

Needless to say. I'll be buying this album very shortly. Thanks Michael and nice history lesson too!

Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Oh, thanks, Nick, that's nice of you!

Urgh, I never want to look at it again! To go from multiple listens over the last few months, to translate the words into English, to give the briefest of Layman's terms explanation of the original classic texts, to attempt to describe which scenes were being presented in the music - shoot me now! Would have ended up tearing my hair out if I could have afforded to!

There's not much I agree with on VianaProghead's review of TAAB2 as I find the album to be lacking on many levels, but it was an interesting read and places the original TAAB in it's proper standing in prog history.

Well at least we figured out the culprit as to why your going bald. Lol. :)

You deserve recognition and respect for this. It's a lot of work man.
Guys like me can see that. ;)

Cool to see Matti's review of the latest Phoenix Again album (will be getting to that one soon myself) recently, as well as Puppy setting a great standard as always with both his killer Steven Wilson `Insurgents' write-up and the Buckethead one. Shame to see them swept off the front page so quickly.

Thanks.      It's always a bonus for me to be the first one to review an album.

Re-reading Holy'Mustafa'Moly review of Zappa's Buffalo 80.

Essential recording, indeed.

Nice one, Steve. (wherever you are)

Cool first review from Jude111 on the new Waters'  solo album. I know that you're a fan of solo Waters but this gives us non solo Waters' fans some hope. So, good show old boy! Clap

Very good, down to earth and reasonable review from octopus-4 on Is This The Life We Really Want. Thumbs Up I believe that a leopard can change it's spots, even at 73 years old, but I'm not as reasonable. Wink

Aussie-Byrd-Brother is right on the money with his review of Is This The Life We Really Want. Thumbs Up I agree with his rating too. Not quite a masterpiece, 3.5 stars seems right for this very enjoyable prog album. ;)

Aw, that's very nice of you, Steve, thanks, mate. I'm not entirely happy with the review, but all good. I just wanted to slot it into the front page while there were no other `Is This The Life We Really Want' reviews there, but give it a few hours, I'm sure another will pop up before too long! It's not too often we get such high-profile releases in Prog Land!
