All right, replacing the word "underrated" with "album deserving of more attention on PA" this one:
Complex without being too obtuse Concept and lyrics that I understand (re. LLDOB) Original without the epic themes and instrument soloing that most other bands were doing at the time

I completely missed this post the first time and would like to agree with everything apart from Bowie ( I don't have that album) , The Who - Face Dances ( I don't have that either) and the last couple of ELP selections. Black Moon rates around 3 stars which seems right and the way Works Vol 2 came about means it will get a lot of understandable flak because its so disjointed. There are some tracks I like but on the whole I think the low rating is deserved. However I might add Love Beach as I think that only has one really bad track ( A Taste Of My Love).
The Nice - everything is underrated
Keith Emerson's early soundtracks are brilliant. Good selections. 
The Who by numbers was the first album I ever owned and I'm still very fond of it. Not a bad track in sight.

Me too, in the 80's i also bought two albums of his solo career, but i admited afterwards that he changed a bit Black Sabbath's style while he was there, didn't changing his way of singing in Rainbow. Maybe that's the reason why he soon left the band. To be honest i prefered Ozzy's Black Sabbath, even considering Dio's voice more potent and the Live Evil show the best ever from Black Sabbath.

A lot of Eloy albums are not getting hardly any attention but if I had to go for very underrated its hard to go past Genesis debut. its been mentioned a few times granted, but it truly deserves a better reputation here.

I've always been very fond of these three Greenslade albums and am a tad surprised they ain't rated higher:
Greenslade (1973)
Bedside Manners Are Extra (1973)
Time and Tide (1975)
Rick Wakeman No Earthly Connection (is a 5 star no brainer in my book)
Argent Encore Live In Concert (de rigueur double live album from the mid 70's but for me a belter)
the Doors Morrison Hotel and the posthumous An American Prayer are both solid 4 star efforts y'all)
Black Sabbath Never Say Die (cops a kicking in most quarters but I rather enjoy it - they should have called it Never Say Dio)

Not 'most' underrated but one album I personally feel is underrated on this website is Kate Bush's Lionheart. It gets an average rating of 3.29 while the albums that flank it are near-4s. I don't think the gap is that much and, notwithstanding some missteps, Lionheart is a pretty fine effort in its own right.

I am tired of Renaissance’s “Azure D’Or” getting dumped on. Sure, it has shorter songs and lacks the orchestral arrangements, but damn, it still has some of their stronger compositions IMO. Jekyll and Hyde, The Flood at Lyons, The Discovery always give me chills.

Are you kidding....no contest the album is Floyd's animals... I've seen them a couple of times and they play absolutely nothing from it....it falls between The Wall and Wish you were here... so it's in the middle of the "peak period" of one of the most influential and successful bands of all time...and yet NADA
