I can't really vote, they all have something special. |

Eh, I'm not really sure what I meant by simple. Maybe "more accessible"? I dunno, but I really like Roots too. A-lex is a really dark album though, and since you're already a Sepultura fan, I think you'd probably greatly enjoy it.

Oh god, this is a difficult one. I love Pantera, Sepultura and Megadeth almost equally.
I'm in a Sepultura mood today. Beneath The Remains and Arise are my favorite albums. My vote to the Cavalera brothers band (I only care about their era). Edited by Morningrise - June 28 2012 at 23:21 |

Sepultura. They were so hardcore back in the day that people refused to walk in the same sidewalk as they were and crossed to the other side. They are one of the fundamental of both the death, thrash, groove and sh*t metal scenes, so I'm obviously going with them. Their first four albums are beyond awesome (except the debut, which is crap).

I am a little surprised to see Sepultura running 3rd in this poll.

So maybe this is the place for anyone who can recommend some Sepultura post 'Against'? Is there anything that as good as Roots or Chaos A.D?

The post-cavalera era is a joke. Any serious metalhead cares ONLY for the Max Cavalera era.

...I wouldn´t go as far as to call it a joke, but I don´t really appreciate anything they´ve done since Max left.

I´ve listened to most releases by all four artists and I´d say they all have really great albums, but also some more standard quality stuff. Here are the albums I really appreciate:
...Oh and Dean I´ll make a slight bit of commercial here for MMA. If it´s inapropriate, please delete the links. No problem. Cowboys from Hell Vulgar Display of Power (I like the next three too but to a lesser extent) Paradise Lost: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/paradise-lost.aspx?ac=paradise lost (I used to be a major fan of Paradise Lost. For a couple of years in my early teens they were my number one band) Lost Paradise (brutal doomy death metal. I like this one) Gothic (even better) Shades of God (used to worship this one) Icon (their big commercial breakthrough) Draconian Times (nice, nice , nice) The rest is a bit up and down, but there´s nothing outstanding. I´d like to mention that I was one of the few that enjoyed "Host". Beneath the Remains (the first "extreme" metal album I was introduced to). Arise. Yeah I´m not that fond of the rest. Rust in Peace Countdown to Extinction I like quite a few of their other albums but those two stand out as their best IMO.

I actually enjoy most of what was released with Derrick Green as the frontman of Sepultura, though they haven't released anything groundbreaking. Dante XXI, Roorback, A-Lex, Nation, and Kairos are all very enjoyable.

I have seen Megadeth live in 1995 in Israel on the youthanasia tour, it was amazing. Also in the same year if i'm not mistaken I saw Paradise Lost on the Draconian tour, where they played the entire album, also an amazing concert.
Ahhh... the heavy metal days... |

Megadeth
I love Youthanasia, and i admit to be a sucker for the simple but nice "A Tout le Monde"
Countdown to Extinction is a good heavy album too
Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? I think is a bit messy
Those are the albums i got, and know well.
Sepultura
Only got Roots, a brilliant album, but the bits and pieces from other albums i'we heard didnt do that much for me.
Paradise Lost
Only got Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us, is the only album i know, its ok, but not fantastic.
Pantera
No albums in my collection, only know from beeing a guest at a friends house, so dont know actualy.
So Megadeth it is. (with my very limited knowlage in this genre.)

I just know Pantera and Megadeth and while I think Pantera never made an album as good as Rust in Peace , their Groove metal era was really consistent. Besides , did Dime ever wrote a bad rif'f? |

^ I disagree, not only their material is great, Planet Caravan's cover is fantastic, really shows Dime is an amazing soloist.
