A lot of these standout for me. Secret Oyster's debut is killer. That's my favourite live Santana record. Dean Watson blew me away with his first solo album. But i love all of these and i can't vote yet.

From what I know, Lather over Fourth.  That's a real favourite Frank Zappa of mine.

I really should get that Secret Oyster album.

Freak Out!

I actually quite like Fourth too, considering I barely like Soft Machine.

Not familiar with Oyster

There is so much amazing stuff on Lather that it's almost not fair having it on here except of course lts of these  tracks were released on other albums earlier, and it's long.LOL

Fifth doesn't seem to get much love. I rate them fairly evenly(Fourth & Fifth) and the reason i have both on here is that i have that 2 on 1 cd release by them. I have quite a few 2 on 1 Zappa  cds too, so you'll see that on future polls.

I still have to give my head a shake that Freak Out ! came out in 1966. Listened to it today and it stands up very well, especially since it was a double album.

Voted for Soft Machine's `Fifth', one of my favourite late PM/early AM, driving into work on a gloomy rainy night albums! At least it was that sort of weather condition where the album finally started to make sense to me! The black cover also adds to the fairly dark mood of the LP.

Sometimes I feel like the album will drive me crazy!

I picked Fourth, with Fifth a VERY close second. Soft Machine were really firing on all six cylinders when they recorded both of those-some of their very best work. I find Fourth is just a tad bit better than Fifth, though.

For me they are very close as well.
I think it's boiled down to Lather or Santana's live one. I didn't think either would be in the running until i've lsitened to these all the last couple of days.
Santana's live record was before they released their debut and before they did Woodstock.

I can understand it, esp on this site. Fifth is a good album (I believe I gave it a 3.5) but is my least favorite of their studio albums (barring LOC of course). Still, I think thats pretty good for a least favorite. Tongue

And Fourth for me is just about the bees knees for me. I love everything about it and it nearly kills me that Wyatt left before they could do another (hopefully in a similar vien, but I'll admit that wasn't probably going to happen). I also wish it was longer...but I pretty much wish that of all the albums I love.

For fear of becoming too patriotic, I voted for that Santana live album. So free and jamming, and it's got some real dense atmosphere to it as well. I especially love Treat on there - feels like making love.
I do however adore that Secret Oyster album as well.

That's cool. For me their early stuff reminds me of the late sixties and it makes me feel good. Weird how music can do that eh?

I go with Lather. It's a prog-jazz fusion masterpiece, and possibly Zappa's magnum opus.
