Dream Theater have done more for progressive music overall compared to VdGG whil no bands have been more important for the underground art movement then VDGG (which includes rock, art and expression from the human mind ), so for progs skelleton and for art rocks core VdGG is more important, but for the body of prog, its fasion status and its candle barer, i think Dream Theater is the most important, they love prog, the musicans in Dream Theater loves prog, and is the most important ambassadors for Prog then any of the todays modern prog bands can say for themselvs, (Steve Wilson is close) though without not always be the most innovative of the lot of todays prog, they certainly cary a high torch of being the most important ambassadore role for prog, thank you for that Dream Theater
I don't say im right but i just feal that way. |

DT keyboardist Jordan Rudess is a major VdGG fan and saw the Graafs at their one and only U.S. show back in '76 at NYC's Beacon Theater.* A couple of years ago he asked me to send him the bootleg of that NYC concert he was at so many moons ago (which I of course sent him!). Seems like a cool guy.
*I know VdGG has played in the U.S. very recently, but they only played one U.S. concert in their heyday.

I do love both... but I there are so much more songs from DT that I like, so I vote for them. But VDGG are really something special.

I don't get it with polls like this, two very different bands, no common point whatsoever.
what's next? Moody Blues vs Pestilence? Miles Davis vs Death? |
