    Posted: July 11 2012 at 09:47
Former PA interview man Torodd Fuglesteg releases his first book....

Press release. The Final Ride.

"I am not sure what the yellow dandelions are doing on my parents graves, but this weed are both outgrowing and overshadowing the rest of the flowers. Maybe these yellow dandelions are not really intended to be there. But they are. I was absent and an ocean away when the headstone and the flower bed was put on the top of the mortal remains of my parents. Absence. That's the story of my life. "

This is the opening paragraph of Torodd Fuglesteg's gripping debut novel The Final Ride.

The Final Ride is a man's bike ride through his past and present in the quest for the meaning of his life. This quest takes him and the readers over the mountains and through the deep canyons of the storyteller's past. The Final Ride is both a novel and a road movie on two wheels.

It is available from http://www.lulu.com/shop/torodd-fuglesteg/the-final-ride/ebook/product-20236299.html and from all other good book stores (Amazon etc) at the end of the summer.

Their choice too - there's an old saying that everyone has at least one novel in them & personally, I've every admiration for someone who shows the committment, positive attitude & work ethic to put the ideas onto paper & go through the trials & tribulations of getting it published.

I have several novels in me, but I need a literary laxative to get them out.  Unhappy

The trouble with having a good story is figuring out how to not screw it up with words.

I suppose everyone is different. I just let the words spew out on the keyboard, and when I am finished, I go back, endlessly, to make sense of it all and edit.

I suspect that many people who contribute here have a damn good novel in them. You would be one of the first that come to mind.

Eeew - laxative and spewing Sick - not quite the way I write thankfully, (though the final product may be related).

Both my novels were written episodically and published on the web a chapter at a time - I wouldn't have done that without producing a plan beforehand because it would have been a horrible mess otherwise - the downside was editing was out of the question - I couldn't go back and put the key under the mat in chapter four so the hero could find it in chapter twelve. As you can imagine from my posts here - I'm seldom lost for words and tend to be verbose, but writing to a timescale tended to force me to be more economic (I hope).

True - it would be an interesting and I suspect challenging read.

Torodd Fuglesteg's first book "The Final Ride" is now easily downloadable from Amazon US or UK.

As usual, Raffaella Berry has written an eloquent and very informative review of this book.  Click here to read the review.

Torodd is now working on his second novel.

I've written a small novel in the Watership Down - style (Richard Adams) when I was 18 years old.
"Invasion of the wolves", with alpine marmots LOL as protagonists.  .
    Never had it published, though.
I was quite proud of it when I was 18, but as I grew older, I saw more and more shortcomings..
Still want to write a novel once, but in this period of my life I'm too busy with work, family etc.
Nice opening lines by Torodd BTW, I must say Clap
