Kaipa to release new album Vittjar in August

The Swedish progressive folk-rock-fusion-band KAIPA recently recorded a new album, called "Vittjar", set for release on August 27th 2012 Europe and August 28th 2012 US on Inside Out Music. The unique music of KAIPA constantly continues to evolve but no matter what direction it takes it always carries a profound breath from the innermost depths of the ancient Swedish primeval forest. This time they even use the Swedish language in the title track to further express and stress these close bonds with their mother country.

Seemingly at odds with the warmth of the music, Vittjar was made using several different studios, with the musicians recording their parts separately. As the motor of the band, Lundin called the shots with regards to how the songs were assembled, giving credence to the old school belief that present day technology - no matter how useful it may be in the studio - is no substitute for experience. Lundin is as experienced as they come, having recorded his first single in 1965. 

Vittjar ultimately puts Kaipa outside the genre box. Or perhaps the album gives new and true meaning to the "progressive" stamp. It's a label that Lundin has lived with for years, and he sees no reason to fight it even as Kaipa's music continues to evolve.

"It doesn't matter what we do, we'll always be placed in progressive rock," says Lundin. "When I'm writing songs I actually try to avoid a traditional way of writing and playing progressive rock, but at the same time those elements are a part of me and my history. So, I hope the result is something new and fresh. Of course, the special influence of Swedish folk music helps accomplish that, and I think it grows with every Kaipa album."

	At last ! Their precedent opus is my favorite album of all time, in all prog !! The bar is set very high, but I'm confident they will follow the last quality-CD. Yeah, Stolt is not in, and with Nillson at guitars, they are awesome, believe me. There is a new sound around and it is very good, different than when Roine was there, and the quality did not suffer. There is a wider distance to TFK, and both are more distinct, still among the best in the business ! Can't wait ! DB

	I finally got into Kaipa recently, so this might be good timing. I'd like to check out their last album before this comes out, just so I know where they're at. Beardfish are also releasing their new album on the same day, so that's going to be a great week of new music!

	I'm listening to this for the first time on Spotify ... it really is very good so far. Patrik Lundström's vocals are a great fit for the music (which is also a good blend of energy and texture).

	Another album I need to get down to is the latest Kaipa-product Vittjar. It seems that folk-influences are a bit reduced, but I will have to find out...

	I got this because I love In the Wake of Evolution, my first Kaipa album. After 2 listens, not up to that one. Still good and I will give it a few more spins but I don't know that it is on par with Wake.
	Biggles was in rehab last Saturday

	I got Vittjar 'cause I like In The Wake of Evolution and Angling Feelings. Folk-influences are not reduced to my ears and the title track (swedish lyrics) is really great! Edited by Andrea Cortese - October 27 2012 at 16:10

	I've got the vinyl LP/CD combo version of `Vittjar' sitting in an order I'm slowly putting together with Greg Walker's Syn-Phonic Records, I can't wait to hear it! Although their last few CD's have a good mix of knockout prog and folky-pop (and a few fillers thrown in too! ), they're very consistent and charming albums!
