So I tried to post this under 'Suggest New Bands and Artists' but was unable (perhaps because I'm such a new member?)... I also attempted to post it under 'Help us Improve the Site', but to no avail. I am posting this here because I am unsure of where else to post it. Warning, most of this is Porgressive Metal, I would be happy to categorize the bands and work on the band pages to get them on the site (as I realize this is a lot of work) but I am unable to do so. Anywho, some new interesting artists in here. I hope you enjoy :) Spectrum Road: Jazz Rock/ Fusion Gin Lady: Heavy Prog or Progressive Metal http://www.metal-discovery.com/CD/cd_review_ginlady.htm, after the fall of Black Bonzo, this project was started up and this album is absolutely progressive and deserves its place on this site. Ebony Ark: Progressive Metal http://www.myspace.com/ebonyark, a gothic style of progressive metal but is absolutely progressive nonetheless. Jeff Kollman: ____ http://www.jeffkollman.com/, perhaps he verges too far into neo-classical elements for some in PA, but he certainly has a progressive sound to a lot of his music. Daniel J: Progressive Metal http://www.last.fm/music/Daniel+J, again not sure where precisely to classify him, Daniel J(akubovik) is a phemoneally gifted musician that plays a wild variety of styles in his music while still staying safe to his sound. His album Losing Time absolutely deserves a place on PA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUshGN8NMKk&feature=relmfu Domain: Progressive Metal http://www.myspace.com/domainband, this is another band that perhaps too far on power metal over progressive metal but you can definately hear progressive influences in there... Perhaps not for PA but it's no more power than... oh I don't know... Evergrey? Rhapsody is on the site so if that's considered progressive, this must be. Beautiful Sin: Progressive Metal http://www.myspace.com/thebeautifulsinmetalband, more progressive metal, I am slowly realizing where I am rooted in my interests but it also may be that what is called 'progressive metal' so often verges on the edge of progressive it can be hard to consider it progressive over the metal. That being said, if that band is going for a complete collection of progressive music this music can't be ignored... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0CdyH4Fi7U Colobar: Progressive Metal http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Colobar/Behind_the_Veil_of_Oblivion/343648, if the album title didn't give it away, yes here is more progressive metal. This time however, I find the music to be undoubtedly progressive. Evolocity: Progressive Metal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74kAqcLs92o, a fantastic little gem I came across a little while ago :) Glass Spires: Progressive Metal http://www.myspace.com/glassspires, a wonderful band whose albums seems to have been lost and forgotten. Shattered Skies: Tech/ Extreme Prog Metal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxFHsfcWNgA, not sure how you guys feel about djent, but this is a wonderful extreme djent/ prog-metal band in the vein of Periphery. Kotipelto: Progressive Metal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjklPzuWV58&feature=related, another artist that may verge too far into power metal for PA, this is Timo Kotipelto from Stratovarius Dave Weckl: Jazz Rock/ Fusion http://www.allmusic.com/artist/dave-weckl-mn0000939549, a fantastic drummer, his solo work (especially on Hard-Wired where I am most familliar) is definately noteworthy and deserves to be on PA Regicide: Progressive Metal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLvRC92gosE&feature=related, a fantastic Progressive metal band that I'm honestly a tad bit surprised isn't on here already. Planet P Project: Space Rock/ Psycadelic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkTfJNK3SYk&feature=related, another one which the absence of surprises me. The voice is poppy but the music itself is absolutely progressive. Another Messiah: Progressive Metal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GbDsqZA6Ac, A fantastic band out of the Middle-East, absolutely progressive and one of my favorite albums so far this year. Joel Hoekstra: Jazz Rock/ Fusion? (not sure on this one) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjK_FwfPJ4Y, a fantastic offering from a truly gifted mind. Lance King: Progressive Metal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pR9-NRzppFU, a wonderful new album from the vocalist of Balance of Power. Oddland: Progressive Metal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pxRzCFqzV4, more Prog-Metal, a fantastic new album that may have been overlooked by PA. Gronholm: Progressive Metal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPowlGa64po, not the most original of bands, but progressive nonetheless. Michael Harris: Jazz Rock/ Fusion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XthvljPjsFo, a wonderful guitarist, worthy of a status on PA. Mistheria: Progressive Metal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6HmGOJPH3k&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PL12334ED572888609, another hybrid where I was undure whether it was progressive due to its heavy sound in power and neo-classical... It's such a fine line. Symphonia: Progressive Metal http://www.myspace.com/symphoniaprogmetal, an interesting band here, another one that I feel belongs on PA. Torquestra: _____ http://www.myspace.com/torquestra, not sure where these guys should be classified... But it should definately be under this site.

Hello and welcome from a fellow Prog Metalhead! Some things in that list I'm surprised have been overlooked. By the way - Oddland is a favorite of the year for me, in my top 10 and that's saying a lot as I'm on track for 100 albums this year....

Welcome to PA! Your list is impressive, lots of bands
Until you get five posts, you can only start a thread in the "welcome newbies" section. This was a measure taken by the admins a few months ago to protect against spammers. You should probably post some of these bands again in the appropriate section once you get five posts, although I'd advise only submitting a few at a time because the addition process can be slow.

That explains it. I am going to post a few more here (just as a note to myself) and then work up on getting those forum posts. Thank you for your help!!
And Yes, Oddland's newest is simply a fantastic offering! Tohpati Bertiga: Jazz Rock/ Fusion http://www.myspace.com/tohpatibertiga, this is one of my favorites of the year... I can't believe I forgot this. The Elf Project: Jazz Rock/ Fusion http://www.myspace.com/elfproject1, a nice little band here, perhaps too mainstream for PA's tastes however. The Aaron Clift Experiment: _____ http://www.myspace.com/aaroncliftmusic, another hidden gem that should be in the archives. Random Touch: ______ http://www.myspace.com/randomtouch, a really interesting band here. Johnny Unicorn: (Experimental of some kind, perhaps avant?) http://www.myspace.com/johnnyunicorn, this is not for everyone, in fact I'd say many would not enjoy it, I do think it's progressive however. Tempus Fusion: Progressive Metal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFik4w1_L-w&feature=relmfu, another prog-metal band, surely progressive enough for PA. |

Some of this music is interesting indeed. (Especially the weirdo ones/avant type ones)
You should keep your suggestions to about 2 per day. That won't overwhelm anyone. And when you post them, put as much info as you can about them, as well as a few samples of the music that you think makes them sound proggy. :-D

Also be warned, that although Rhapsody and Nightwish are here, I believe that most members of the prog metal team would prefer that they not be here. They were both added in the early days of the site, pre-teams, and have been a thorn in the side ever since then. The site's policy is to not delete bands that were previously added and had reviews, etc... so that is most likely why they remain. Just as an example, Stratovarius has been rejected numerous times and has involved some pretty intense debates. So it is highly unlikely that a band will be added these days if they are more power metal or symphonic metal than they are progressive metal.

That's good to know, it also explains why some bands I feel were overlooked were probably just refused because they verge to close to power/symph THANKS! I think I'll have to go through the bands I listed as Progressive Metal and make due changes to my army of names.

Also, it is probably best to use the Search function and choose "any date" to see if any of these artists have been suggested before. It is possible that some have been suggested and rejected, or are still in the process of being added, or may just need to have the thread bumped as a reminder to the teams that the band is under consideration.
