Each of these movies has a different meaning to me: some were a very important part of my childhood, some are awesomely bizarre movies, some are wonderful pieces of cinematography, and so on.

Pick your favorite one of the list.

Narrowing this to 25 was extremely tough. Big, Ghostbusters, Airplane, Naked Gun, This Is Spinal Tap...sadly a lot of wonderful titles had to be left out.

So many good movies here!
 
Went with "The Thing" which is the best sci-fi horror I've seen so far. And the gore is amazing!
 
Honorable mentions to Fly, Raiders, ReAnimator, Blade Runner, Tenebre, The Wall and Full Metal Jacket.
RIO/AVANT/ZEUHL - The best thing you can get with yer pants on!
EXERIOR Experimental tech/death/progmetal from Norway!

None of my favorite 80's movies are here (Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller, After Hours, Wargames, Mannequin, for god's sake, Mannequin!) but I voted for Blue Velvet because David Lynch is cool.

I'm voting for The Wall.  It was my first R-rated movie at age 13  - pretty heavy stuff.

Full Metal Jacket was great too, speaking of heavy stuff.

I have never seen Blade Runner, but prog types seem to really like it, so I'd like to see it some day.

Blade Runner for the Vangels soundtrack despite his music being merely prog related.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Fanny & Aleksander. But I prefer the five hour plus TV-series version by far. Got some incredible extra storylines, and makes more sense.

Same on both counts.  I love the use of dead time in that film, and find it touching.  Slow movies can be oh so good.

I like Big too, but of the many, many thousands of possible films that is not one that I'd expect.  Spinal Tap would be nice, but I find it an excellent list with many films that I love that I couldn't complain, and I still would have voted for Paris,  Texas.  I guess that I couldn't have resisted Ju Dou or Red Sorghum had either of those been listed as I've been a big Zhang Yimou fan and once had quite the crush on Gong Li (gorgeous cinematography in those films).

I liked the Neverending Story Embarrassed, so much nostalgia, even so after a 20 years since last time i saw it the graphic are a bit off and dated but the movie is still so wonderfull adn touchy
