Hmm, I consider The Royal Scam one of the weakest SD albums of the 70's, which means nothing really, I just don't consider it as strong as most of the others.

^ not convinced they are jazz rock/fusion though. Nice smooth pop music going by Aja which is the only album of theirs I own.

Darn! You didn't include "Countdown to Ecstasy". Out of these 4 I would pick Aja. I like the ending which feels like Soft Machine in 73' with John Marshall on drums.

They're not jazz-rock/fusion in the sense of RTF, Brand X, Mahavishnu Orchestra, or even Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, or Weather Report, but it makes sense to put Steely Dan in that category, and they DID interpret jazz in a rock context. |

Besides, I don't think Aja or Gaucho are pop music in that sense. They are deceptively catchy but their chord progressions can be complicated. Even then, I am not sure how prog they are because, for instance, Court and Spark might also qualify IF Aja is prog enough.

I'm all in! Heirja is a masterpiece. I voted Katy Lied if only for Dr Wu. Such an uplifting chorus! The song Aja always felt like an extension of the musical theme to me. |

yes, and it has Jaco pastorius on bass. Her live album ''shadows and light' fratures a jazz-rock backing band.

Thanks for help. I'll grab more if they have them there.

I sadly haven't seen any Katy Lied at any store i've been to. It's a shame seeing that's my favorite artwork by them. I like it a lot really.

Katy Lied is my personal favorite but I would get all of them up to and including Gaucho .....the ones they did later are for hard core fans imho, and I'm a fan in case you can't tell from my name.
