Greetings from miRthkon, your favorite avant/experimental/chamber-core band!

miRthkon is embarking on our first real US tour in August, starting on the east coast and working out way back home to the Oakland Bay Area in California. We're aiming to leave new audience members stunned and changed for life. For the first half of this mission fellow Oakland band MoeTar will be teaming up with us (!) to assist with the mental warping and soul cleansing. But that's not all - In Denver we are joined by Thinking Plague (!!) and once back in Cali we are doing two shows with Kayo Dot (!!!).

This tour is to celebrate the release of miRthkon's first live DVD "(format)" which is available for download and pre-order, and should be available for sale at the shows.

So without further ado, the dates/venues/basic lineups:

Sat 8/11 - Baltimore, MD - Orion - w/ MoeTar
Sun 8/12 - NYC, NY - New Spectrum - w/ MoeTar
Mon 8/13 - NYC, NY - Pianos - w/ MoeTar (and Audio Collision)
Tue 8/14 - Sellersville, PA - Sellersville Theatre - w/ MoeTar
Wed 8/15 - Rochester, NY - Lovin' Cup - w/ MoeTar
Thu 8/16 - Columbus, OH - Bernie's Distillery - w/ MoeTar
Fri 8/17 - Madison, WI - The Wisco - w/ MoeTar (and Dharmonic Deluxe)
Sat 8/18 - Chicago, IL - Swerp Mansion - w/ MoeTar
Mon 8/20 - Kansas City, MO - The Record Bar
Tue 8/21 - Lincoln, NE - Bourbon Theatre
Wed 8/22 - Denver, CO - Moe's - w/ Thinking Plague, Panal S.A. CE D.V.
Fri 8/24 - Tucson, AZ - Solar Culture
Sat 8/25 - Los Angeles, CA - The Mezz - w/ Kayo Dot (and The Anti-Job)
Tue 8/27 - San Francisco, CA - Elbo Room - w/ Kayo Dot

Notes:
* Swerp Mansion is a private stage, not a formal club, but it's really cool. Should be a great gig.
* There will likely be other bands on many of these bills, check the venues for more details

We'll edit this post/thread with better information, or if plans change/develop. And please share this info with anybody who you'd think would be remotely interesting in having their brains expanded and faces melted.

No St. Louis Unhappy.

I haven't listened to any of those except for Kayo Dot, though I've heard of Thinking Plague.  Your band description sounds intriguing, I'll have to check you guys out.

I imagine I'll see them with Thinking Plague in Denver.
Would be interesting to see Kayo Dot, though!  (Already seen TP once.)
Of course I probably should buy their album first!  I listened to it once on bandcamp and liked it.

How far is St. Louis from Kansas City?  Other side of the state, I guess (without looking it up!).  Sorry man!

I have seen both miRthkon and MoeTar and I say don't even think about it go see them.  Hard for bands to travel this big country of ours so go see them when you can.  They will not disappoint you and you will get a diverse, well played show with a lot of humor in ti.

ABSURDLY JEALOUS of anyone able to go to this particular show.  I'd kill to see that concert, but alas...it's way outside of my travel restrictions.  The concert in SF is on a Sunday, so I'm unable to go, the Saturday one in LA is, unfortunately, on the same day that I've already been planning to go see Fred Frith.  I WILL see miRthkon live while I'm living here in California, though...I don't know how, I don't know when, but I will!

One last pre-tour bump. All the various band members are slowly working their way to Baltimore at the moment. Please attend these show, buy tickets, tell your friends, help us recoup our ridiculous gas expenditures while having your faces melted, brains shattered, etc.!!!!

The Mirthkon gigs in Lincoln, Denver & Tucson have been canceled due to Wally being in hospital with a kidney stone.

I went to see them in Chicago but that was the first gig they canceled. Moetar who played on the same bill in Chicago were excellent, great stuff.

Yargh.
Mike with Thinking Plague indicated a couple of days ago that they would play even if miRthkon could not.  But the website for the venue says the show is cancelled.  So I don't know what's going on there.

Hmmm!!

"Thinking Plague has moved their show to the Mercury Cafe at 2199 California Street, Denver, CO.

Doors: 8pm
Opener: Kurt Bauer - 8:15
T. Plague at 9pm
$7"

http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=419885998048181&id=171672812869502

Not sure how many will know to show up, but it's good.
Smile

Edit:
from the coloradoprog list:
"Hi all,
So, you will have heard that miRthkon had to cancel.  Very sad, but Wally's health is paramount, obviously.  Unfortunately, Moe's decided to cancel the show.  HOWEVER, Marilyn and the Mercury have saved the day for Thinking Plague.

We will play there tomorrow night (22nd) beginning at 9pm.
Doors at 8, and Kurt Bauer will do a short 'odd' set of songs as opener.  Admission: $7

There will be a silent auction for Mission Supports:  http://www.missionsupports.org/

The fabulous Kurt Rongey of Underground Railroad is guest keyboardist with TP.  http://www.theundergroundrailroad.net/Originorderk2.htm

Hope y'all can come....
MJ"
