I know about a few of them, like Renaissance, Madder Mortem, Mostly Autumn, and some others, but is there a comprehensive list or a category somewhere on PA?

I did a search and one topic, about 1 band, showed up.

I listen to quite a bit of metal bands that have gals singing, like Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica, Xandria, Diabulus In Musica, etc etc etc. but for all the prog albums I have, I don't think I have one with a female singer.

White Willow's new album, Terminal Twilight is quite good.
Marriages is a side project of Red Sparowes that has Emma Ruth Rundle singing.
Introitus has female vocals, not sure if she is the only lead vocalist though.

Crushed like a rose in the riverflow.

More importantly, The Nocturnes.

I don't know how i always forget that project. Still haven't sat through the whole thing - though what i've heard is great.

Try these for starters:
Strangers On A Train
: - 'The Key Part 1: The Prophecy', & 'The Key Part 2 : The Labyrinth' (Tracy Hitchings - who also sings on Landmarq's excellent 'Science Of Coincidence' and 'Entertaining Angels' studio albums, and a couple of live ones too: -  'Thunderstruck' and 'Aftershock').

Janison Edge -  'The Services of Mary Goode' (Sue Element) - excellent melodic neo prog!

Legend: - Four fine albums (Debbie Chapman (3) & Kerry Parker (1) - see http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=602)

Arion - Arion (Tânia Braz) Three live videos embedded on their main page: http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=2609

Flamborough Head (last three albums: - Margriet Boomsma - see http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=109

hmmm....I think there is much that women could bring to prog, including their innate good artistic tastes (well, often!), compositional talent and skill on many instruments.

This album is perhaps my favorite of the genre, showing how King Crimson might have sounded with women vocalists!!  Highly recommended!

I tend to go for the more 'witchy' types of women in regards to prog. Annie Haslam is beautiful no doubt, but I feel like drinking straight butter listening to more than a couple of tracks at a time.

These are some of my faves:
COS

Popol Vuh(Well not strictly speaking, but this album is 'female fronted')

Catapilla(heh, I just posted this one in another thread, but hey this band need all the love they can get)

Catherine Ribeiro + Les Alpes

Koenjihyakkei

I am forgetting many here, but my brain doesn't work properly today...
