There was a point in time when I would have said that I enjoy side 2 more the side 1. Although I still enjoy side 2, I have grown a new love for the 2112 suite.

My list of side 2 would look like this:

1. Something For Nothing
2. Twilight Zone
3. Passage to Bangkok
4. Lessons
5. Tears

Lessons and Something For Nothing are brilliant tracks. Lessons is an amazing ballad and it holds a lot of water, but side 1 is better. 2112 is just so brilliant. I do like the album a bit better than a farewell to kings, but not Moving Pictures! Dam that album is a goody!!
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

I can do without Lessons and Tears on side 2, but the suite isn't perfect either, so I would say I like the two sides about equally.

Here's my side 2 ranking btw:

1. Passage To Bankok
2. Something For Nothing
3. The Twilight Zone
4. Lessons
5. Tears

I like side 1 better but I agree with Richardh, I guess that they tried to find a compromise, they wanted to release the 2112 suite but felt like they should also have some shorter songs in the album.
Can't blame them for that, the whole thing is a more than worthy album.

I like both equally. The highs of side two are higher and the lows are lower, but in the end both sides are pretty decent.

I like the whole album. Tears is simply beautiful and Passage To Bangkok is currently my ringtone.

I love them all, though Tears is the weakest.

I rather like "Twilight Zone" and "Something for Nothing," but the other tracks to me are just mediocre at best.  I love side 1, though.

Both albums have interesting tracks on side two. Both albums are good.

That said 2112 has a better side two than Tarkus. Its more consistent througout. Twilight Zone is very underated song as is Something For Nothing. Passage to Bangkok is a Rush classic. Tears I like. Lessons I can't even remember and is perhaps the only weak track but I will need to have another listen

I would add PF's "meddle" to the list only in PF's case "echoes" was on side two I think.

I agree with the poster that said side two of 2112 was a step back. The songs are all rather simplistic and are for the most part not very adventurous(especially considering what they had done on COS as was pointed out). I still like it though even though it's not very proggy but more straight ahead with the possible of exception of "tears" which has some nice mellotron on it(I think the only time Rush have ever used a mellotron).

yup... side two is in the good but not great category. It is bookended by classics but with the middle three being decent enough but not classics by any stretch.

Basically, if sides could talk, I'm guessing this would be Side One to Side Two:

Something For Nothing is pretty good. Twilight Zone is alright. PTB is alright as well, but not as alright as TZ. So I suppose 'meh' is my general thoughts.

Of course , I'm not a Rush fan, so grain of salt.
