Topic: Lizard Vinyl Reissue Posted: August 03 2012 at 16:45 |
I have both of the King Crimson Vinyl Reissues out right now, In the Court of the Crimson King, and In the Wake of Poseidon, and I love both of them! The sound is so clear and crisp and it just makes a world of difference listening to their albums on vinyl rather than on CD or MP3. I went to a record store today, and a man there told me that they are reissuing Lizard on 200 Gram Vinyl! I can't wait to hear what Steven Wilson improved upon this great album. Your thoughts on what the reissue will be like, and if they will reissue more KC albums on Vinyl?

Not much of a vinyl collector/fan, but sounds awesome.

I've never been a fan of reissues, but Lizard's my favorite KC albums so I'll have to make an exception. Steven Wilson usually does a good job so I'm excited.

I'm not sure it is exactly the case here... but it seems weird to me when I see something about a vinyl reissue digitally remastered. I surely don't know enough about the technical side of things, but to me it sounds like a contradiction.

Vinyl reissue, eh?
Sounds tempting to get. Even if it turns out that I don't like Wilson's reworking, at least I get to put the album cover on my wall. I hope Fripp keeps the gate-fold design.

I think that Robert Fripp said he originally wasn't very fond of the album, but after Steven Wilson remastered it Robert Fripp said that he finally enjoyed listening to it

I got in on CD. I have to say, I much prefer the 2004 mixes. luckily, the bonus DVD includes 2004 mix so yay.

I have the vinyl re-issue on 200g.......Its excellent! Includes a bonus download of the original vinyl issue. The new issue is sparkly clean, SQ is some of the best I have heard on a reissue. Its cleaned up well and not too much where it might sound dull, as on some reissue CDs.
Wilson did an excellent job on this one and really focused on the sound from a vinyl perspective.
The gatefold is all original artwork.
