i know a number of these, but the only ones that are fresh enough in my head to vote on without listening again are Aranis' Roqueforte, and Holger Czukay's Canaxis    I'd want to return to some of these albums before voting, though I may not have time.  So instead I'l justl go with Canaxis.

I like that these guys are into baseball as we get pictures from Candlestick Park in San Fransisco in the liner notes. Reminds me of how Rush always had hockey or baseball references in the liner notes. Steve Shutt who was a high scoring left winger for the Montreal Canadiens was a long time school friend of Geddys and they used to hang out in the summer a lot. Apparently Steve would let his hair grow all summer then cut it before training camp. Peart was a big Canadiens fan.

I forgot about that, if you hold a mirror up to those numbers it looks like LOOSE. Only a Psychedelic band would come up with that one.

The following album, "Phase V", is also recommended - it's even more spacey and psychedelic, but backs off on the guitar crunch a little, which isn't a bad thing.  Almost Ozricky in spots.  There's also a couple of earlier albums which I recall as heavier, but I need to re-listen to those.

edit: John, I just saw you've already heard Phase V (you reviewed it).  I concur with your review.

I read your edit first Steve and thought you were talking about Art Zoyd's Phase IV yeah i know not Phase VConfused but yes it all became clear when i read from the start like most people do. I completely agree with you about the Pelican vibe. It's like getting hit with tons of water when you listen to "Liquid" then it passes then another wave comes crashing down. Cool record.

You are mad! I have no idea where to put my voteStern Smile
Dungen, Catapilla, Holger Czukay, LA Düsseldorf, Falsini and Drum Circus - and in one poll?!? I think I'll better sleep on it....
I've been out in the sun all day, and even if the occasional water splashes from kids run amok helped cool my lava brain, I am still cooking here... My head says Czukay, but my heart says Catapilla. But that's now and I am a like a thousand degrees warm, - and I may have a different opinion at 4 in the night when I have to take a wee.

Like I said, I think I'll sleep on it, but not before I've heard the Dungen album as well as that Düsseldorf one - the latter reminding me about the close ties between art punk and the late motorik groove of some of the Krautrock bands.

Not a lot has been said about Catapilla but it's a great album.
Like Guldbamsen i think i'm going to re-visit Catapilla one more time. I listened to these all over the previous days but i still can't decide on Canaxis or Changes.

After some more listening i've decided to go with Catapilla but your right there are some gems here,

Thanks, it was delightful.
I am voting Catapilla as well. I have loved that album ever since first listen, and there is not a bad moment on the record. The twin guitar attack along with that breezy sax counter the witch-like vocals beautifully. A masterpiece for my tastes

Still I count at least 3 albums here I'd award with the highest rating. The at least part comes from not having heard them all though...

Yeah it's a shame Drum Circus didn't get a vote but then again it's pretty obscure. It's funny but once i re-listened to Catapilla it wasn't such a hard choice.

I truly love that record and I may have to write up a review in the near future. For some reason, the vocals have always reminded me of COS - y'know those Blairwitch project emanations.
And true about Drum Circus. Maybe it was my confusing review that scared people off itOuch
