TD, VdGG, GG and Gong. Unfortunately I don't own 7 albums by Bob Wyatt.

VdGG. Limiting myself to the real standout instead of voting for all the ones I like... Especially since I like all the ones I've heard.

I'll go with the ones I have 7 or more from:  Area, Magma, Gentle Giant.  I've not heard anything from some of the Italians on your list but overall it is a splendid list.

Maybe it's easier to name the ones I don't have any from, because I really do enjoy everything on here. Special shoutout to both Wakhevitch and Hancock seeing as they seem to be a bit behind the others. Love both - even if they are miles apart musically.
Frizzi, Macchi and ZAO are th eones I don't have any music from, although I plan on changing that (currently waiting on Kawana turning up on my doorstep).

Great poll!

I don't have seven albums by any of these artists, but I have five Tangerine Dream albums, so I voted for them.

Thanks!  I forgot some others that I should have listed that I have had seven or more albums by, which includes Pink Floyd and Vangelis. Can't believe that I neglected to mention those!

Macchi ihas been my particular favourite of the ones you don't have (major thanks to the one who introduced me), though I love those three.  Frizzi's The Beyond and the Frizzi/Tempera/Bixio Collaboration Sette Note in Nero are my particular faves of Frizzi.  All of Zao's are great, though I have had a particular thing for the début.  By the way, it might be worth your while checking youtube at some time for this music.  I will post this youtube one for Frizzi (tracks 6 and 7 off The Beyond).  The Beyond is the one album I have that my son loves.

As for my votes, though I won't vote -- I would not now vote for Gentle Giant.  When I joined PA it was my favourite band, and although I still like music by GG, I just haven't wanted to listen to it much for years.  Sometimes I have done shuffle on my iPod, and it is the only one when it comes up that I tended to skip.  I guess I burnt out on it, and my tastes moved elsewhere.  Gong, also, I don't seem to return to anymore despite having been a favourite at one time.

Morricone. More than 70 albums ...Embarrassed

You have more than 70 of his albums?  Wow.  I'm actually envious.

Ennio Morricone is the one I've probably played the most over the last year or two as I've been quite consistently, but also quite slowly, building up my collection over that time.  Maybe I have twenty of his (most from the 70s).  I adore Morricone.  I always seems to be in the mood for one of his albums.  Right now it'll be Milano Odia....

Gong TD and Wyatt .  (Waits for poll to be ruined by silly voting)

Thanks for the feedback Greg. I really enjoyed those clips, and it seems that I now have even more to add to that ever growing list. Thanks!

I really feel the Italians hit a stride during these years - also (especially) in the world of movie soundtracks. Morricone is perhaps the biggest entrepreneur of this 'wave', but these two other cats surely had something to say as well. I just reviewed La Planète Sauvage actually, because I too have an affinity for the big panoramic sounds of a well done soundtrack, but with these Italians you sense an altogether different vibe going on. One I personally find truly captivating.

I'm only familiar with Area, Miles, GG, Gong, Magma, TD and VDGG. All great artists but  VDGG is probably my favorite band ever.
