Hi guys,

We are Meta, a two man prog rock recording (for now) project. We will be releasing a 4 track EP entitled Haringer later this year.

Our first track off the EP, "Escape Velocity" was chosen by Prog Magazine to be included on their unsigned artists compilation CD to be handed out at the first annual Progressive Music Awards in September, and included in a special edition issue of the magazine itself covering the awards show.

Check us out, and if you like what you hear be sure to visit our website (in my signature below) and like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.

Cheers!

-Alec

A very decent sounding track indeed, Alec. Damn fine piece of Crossover Prog to these ears, if I may say so! If the rest of the EP is of a similar quality, and it stretches reasonably past the 20 minute mark in total, then I don't foresee any problem at all for you regarding entry into our database once it's been officially released. Thumbs Up
Keep us informed!!  Smile

Thanks very much! Our EP will be right around 30 minutes, so no problem on that front!

Hey everyone,

We have decided to release our EP digitally now! It will be available via the usual digital channels within a few days. However, we would like to offer a free download to the first five people to post on this thread in exchange for a quick writeup/review (just a paragraph or so letting us know what you thought).

If interest and demand are high enough we will do a CD pressing later this year as originally planned.

Thanks guys!

^ That's great news! Let us know when the links to stream your EP have been enabled, and I'm sure folks will step forward to review it. Even though the EP is only being released digitally for the time being, it will still be eligible for evaluation and inclusion in our database if the rest of it is comparable to the first track you uploaded to soundcloud.com, & I will add the suggestion to the appropriate forum if this turns out to be the case. Smile

A link is available for direct download through WeTransfer, I can send the link via private message or to users email if they are interested. We are very excited to have the EP "out in the wild" so to speak!

^ The rest of the EP is of a similar quality too - heavy in places, less so in others...but consistently well constructed music, prog through and through, and all in all, half an hour of extremely enjoyable listening which I think the majority of folks on here will absolutely love.

Can't recommend it highly enough - top notch stuff indeed! Adding this band to The Archives should be a breeze for the evaluation teams once the EP is officially released for 'general consumption'. Heavy Prog or Crossover? Damned if I'm sure to be honest - I reckon it could quite comfortably sit in either sub.

Let's hope that official release comes very soon! Thumbs Up

I posted these guys in the Crossover Team Thread, i'll try to keep this thread updated if possible.

I've listened to the EP about 5 times today and like it, i'll more than likely write a review for it on Sunday.

Escape Velocity is probably our most accessible tune, I'd say overall we would consider ourselves Heavy Prog more so than Crossover. I'm no sub-genre expert though, and we will happily assume whatever mantle is assigned to us by the site if we are lucky enough to get in!!

Thanks very much for the kind words!

Thanks for this Austin. Saves me having to start a new thread in 'Suggest New Bands and Artists'. Clap

I will keep checking back here myself, and also on progfreak.com. As soon as there is evidence of an evaluation in progress, either by Crossover team or Heavy, I will add the progfreak link in here so that folks who are interested can follow the proceedings themselves (if you have not already done so yourself!)  Tongue

Looks like we've been added, thanks for your help everyone!

Exciting news! After our track was included on the Prog Awards unsigned artists cd, the editor got in touch and said he wanted to do a piece on the band! We now have a feature in the current issue of Prog. Here's a scan of the article, click this link for full size: http://i.imgur.com/VFDYA.jpg

Does anyone know who I can message to get the picture on our page updated? The pic we used for the magazine article is much better than the ones on our site, I have a clean version of it with no text that would work great.
