I hear a big influence from Patton-era FNM in Daniel Gildenlow's work with Pain Of Salvation. Is it just me? Both are very talented singers, in bands that go against the norm, and produce eclectic, complex music which doesn't easily fit into a genre classification.
I enjoy both, personally. What do you think?

I have two albums by POS and I love them but FNM are just fantastic, The Real Thing is one of my favorite albums ever.
No contest here. |

I had a compilation album of FNM for years. So I knew all the hits. But it wasn't nearly sufficient, you see. FNM are an albums band. I recently bought all the studio albums, and am really getting into the band. Fantastic stuff. Genre defying, challenging, funky, groovy, at times brutal, entertaining music.
POS are also very good. I haven't heard nearly as much of their output though, I must confess. I have Remedy Lane, which is awesome. I also have Road Salt 1 and 2. I like 2 better.

Strange, that, as Mike Patton and Mr Bungle are. |

FNM for prog-related, perhaps?
I got The Real Thing around when it first came out; then Angel Dust as well. Man did I find Angel Dust hard to get into! I finally did learn to appreciate it, but I still prefer The Real Thing. Never heard POS. |

PoS have made 5 steller albums, 2 good ones and one thats OK, not to mention an exceptional acoustic live album and a very good live album. FNM are ok but not even close on quality.

Both have done amazing things, but FNM has a dear place in my heart. Angel Dust and The Real Thing are two of my all-time favorites.

I bought Angel Dust when I was eleven, I listened to it every day that summer.
Although now days I prefer King For A Day ...Fool For A Lifetime. FNMs easily my favorite band that's not included on this site.

Even wikipedia says FNM have progressive rock elements.
They were influential on so many bands that followed them. Unfortunately, this includes the majority of the nu metal scene's perpetrators.
