Happy Songs for Happy People. They're actually all really good, except for the second one. And I'm not as big on the debut album as a lot of people are, but it's still good.
1. Happy A 2. Hawk A- 3. Beast A- 4. Hardcore B+ 5. Rock B 6. Young Team B- 7. CODY C-

I just find it very uneventful and dull. Funny, because that's probably what a lot of people say about Mogwai in general. C minus is perhaps a bit low (I do love the title track), but I just did it to differentiate it from how much more I liked the other albums.

hahaha yes i know many Mogwai haters who curse them for their influence on billions of lousy post rock bands (the other 'bad guy' is Explosions In The Sky for their more emo outpourings)..............

Funny, I was unimpressed with Explosions because I thought they were basically Mogwai, but not as good. I've been meaning to give them another shot, thanks for the reminder. I have "The World is Not a Cold Dead Place" or some title like that.

I seem to be a minority, at least by the ratings shown on PA, but i think Hawk is Howling is by far their best album.
I love it dearly, one of my Top 10 PR Releases.

Hawk is a good one to start with if you're just getting into the band, it's usually the one I recommend first. It seems to encapsulate their strengths very well. It's very close to the top of the heap for me.

I think it's a PR album i would recommend to anyone interested in the genre. It's beautiful, full of emotion, and isn't the minimalist, or monotonous like the cookie-cutter PR bands.

I've always thought of EITS as Mogwai with their testicles removed. Voted Happy but I enjoyed their last album almost as much. I think Young Team is one of their weaker albums but was hugely influential. Come On Die Young is regarded by many as the bands' weakest album.

Hawk Interestingly, I put off getting it for a few years because of my disappointment with Mr Beast, my least favorite. I've not heard CODY or RA, though. I guess I'd rate them
Hawk Happy Hardcore Young Beast
YT has the two wonderful long tracks, but I've not learned to appreciate the shorter ones

Its between Mr Beast and Hardcore.
All Mogwai albums have great tracks......but most of their albums also have less memorable offerings.
I must admit that if you played me a Mogwai track I may not be able to pick what album it came from even though Ive been collecting them for well over a decade.
One thing is for sure, they seem to be getting better with each release (IMHO).

Probably my least favourite band, out of the popular, famous Post-Rock acts. Still love them though. The top 5 are pretty close together, in terms of my preference towards them. Hawk's probably the most consistent for me. 1. Hawk 2. Hardcore 3. Young Team 4. Happy Songs 5. Mr. Beast 6. Die Young 7. Rock Action
