Trocarn is a nice surprise for a prog rock band, they made one album in 1977, and in 2007 released their second album, which contains the songs from the original album with two new songs, so more of a rendition of old material but still.
Something from the original Trocarn in 1977. Myspace has some of new versions with better sound: Link I google translated some info from here: A little history: In the late 70s in Geneva, from the progressive movement was sinking, was born a group whose existence was short-lived as a moth. Consists of four members (Christian Fues, Manuel Munoz, Christian and Raphael Pidoux Hardrick) Trocarn spent ten hours in the studio to produce some 1,000 copies of a vinyl of the same name. The band played several concerts in Geneva in 1977 and 1978, then disappeared body and soul. 30 years after these events, here is a brand new developed using current technology and a luxury of time that we did not at the time. Keeping the same musical spirit, two titles have been added that do not appear in the original album "The One" and "daughter of the air" and many other ideas remained suspended in air ... The adventure began in July 2001, when my guitar began to rust in a corner of my office by sad mine. The making of this album took nearly 6 years. It has occupied most of my evenings and almost all my weekend. For the first time I used the computer as a "Home Studio" and dropped my old tape recorder. Titles were taken one by one and patiently tortured until he sort the best, as well as some words no longer fit my mood today. I convinced Christian Pidoux (keyboard and original bassist) to join the project. Thanks to him, "The naive" was enriched by one of his compositions. Found his keyboards and the voice of my daughter Melanie on most titles. Frank Grosset and lent his voice to "Peasant". Finally, Serge Castellano and his magic sax did me the honor to table the icing on the cake with his masterful interpretation of the solo "Jonathan."This site has no other purpose than to bring some musical memories and photographs made entirely "at home" and to promote the new album available here. |

Nice find
For some reason, the MySpace link on my machine packed in after about five minutes, but from what I heard their, and this You Tube vid, this seems to me to be a shoo-in for symphonic. Sent for eval.

Read about them a few minutes ago
Was tempted to say yes, but wiould be good if Prog Folk checked them, I listen a lot of Medieval Folk. If not accepted by them I will vote yes in Symphonic. Will notify the team now Iván BTW: What's the problem with MySpace, ten minutes to load each song

Just heard the tracks. Very folk oriented and lots of acoustics and harmonised singing.
Enough keyboard passages for symphonic but too much folk touches for my taste. The Folk prog team must check this first.

Hy Guys, just posted in the Prog Folk thread
It's not a definitive no from us, just a chance for Prog Folk to check them before us. Keep Proggin' Iván Edited by Ivan_Melgar_M - September 26 2012 at 09:56 |

These guys have been approved for Prog Folk. If you have any info you want added to the bio feel free to post it or PM me; otherwise I've added these guys to our backlog and will try to work on adding them over the next few days.
Thanks for the recommendation! |

I remember Trocam from years ago from playing, recording, touring in the French part of Switzerland with my old Swiss progressive rock band Flame Dream.
(The members I met were very nice gents;and loved our keyboardist a lot;and they were very much into American folk music.) http://www.math.harvard.edu/~knill/teaching/mathe320_2011/exhibits/morley/index.html Tschüß,Ciao,Ciao everyone und Ich wünsche alles einen ganz schönen tag und Sonne in eure herzen on this December 1st. |
