Lord of Emmentaler returns!!!
You can say what you want about Arjen, but he is no slouch.
Maybe he'll finally make an album I like...
Here's hoping at least.

Well, he doesn't take himself too seriously as you can see.  I really didn't like his Lost In The New Real album at all (though the cover versions on CD2 were actually pretty good.......but they were covers).  And the last Ayreon was pretty disappointing as well.  Here's hoping his break gave him some good creative ideas for this next one.  I'm sure I'll check it out.

He's gotta get back to HUMAN EQUATION level. That album I feel is his best. Liked his selection of musicians he choose, especially ERIC CLAYTON. he has to break that rule where he won't work with the same musician twice.

Few updates as yet guys, but Lori has posted a 'guess the instrument' competition today on the ArjenLucassen.com website: http://www.arjenlucassen.com/content/guess-the-instrument/ Apparently this is an instrument he has never used before. There is a short 20 second mp3 sample for download at the above link. Sounds a bit like a lute to me... Ermm

The instrument is actually an Irish Bouzouki. It's played by a fairly prolific Australian multi-instrumentalist by the name of Michael Mills, the driving force behind a band called Toehider, & who Arjen recently 'discovered' on Youtube. This guy's a pretty decent singer too!

A bit off topic, but for interest's sake:

Well, this isn't exactly 'news' since it was announced five weeks ago... http://www.progrockmag.com/news/ayreon-return-will-be-double-arjen-lucassen/?fb_action_ids=511937838863369&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_source=aggregation&fb_aggregation_id=288381481237582

Arjen Lucassen has confirmed his next Ayreon record will be called The Theory Of Everything – and it’ll be a double album.

The long-awaited follow-up to 2008′s 01011001 is pencilled in for release towards the end of the year.

Lucassen says: “I’ve finished recording demos of the music, I’m now about half-way finished with the lyrics. It’s going to be a double album, so there is a lot to write.

“It’s extra challenging as well, because lyrically I’ve left the old Ayreon universe behind, and I have to create a new one from scratch. I’m really excited about the line-up and how everything is progressing so far.”

He’s promised to update fans in due course. Smile
