My wife, an expert cake decorator, is sponsoring and running a cakewalk tomorrow for like five dozen children.  She wanted "Monster Mash" on a CD for the music.

Well, three minutes seems like a waste for a CD, so I made a playlist for her full of songs I either know she likes or strongly believe she would like.

Choose wisely.

Not sure how Cadence and Cascade and Lucky Man are have anything to do with Halloween or monsters, but The Carpet Crawlers!! Even has that creepy sound. Perfecto.

The Virgin and the Gypsy, although it probably is not appropriate for a kid's event (but then again, they won't get all the allusions).
The world of sound is certainly capable of infinite variety and, were our sense developed, of infinite extensions. -- George Santayana, "The Sense of Beauty"

The Gunner's Dream - one of the gosh-darned prettiest ol' songs I ever heard.

Children will only hear the Monster Mash (unfortunately, really).  The rest of the tracks are for Mrs. Ep.

None of the other songs are "Halloween themed."

I voted for the last number, by the way.

Isn't it just too damn real?
...a vigorous circular motion hitherto unknown to the people of this area, but destined
to take the place of the mud shark in your mythology...

It is unfortunate. My own Halloween playlist has, among other things:
Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs - Haunted House
Warren Zevon - Excitable Boy
Alice Cooper - Unfinished Sweet
Alan Parsons Project - (The System of) Dr. Tarr and Professor Fether.
Arthur Brown - Prelude-NIghtmare
Atomic Rooster - Death Walks Behind You
Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath
The Velvet Underground - Venus In Furs

Although I can see why you wouldn't want to expose children to the kind of rape, murder, sado-masochism and malevolent dentistry found in this list.

Well, Jesus did say "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you," and not, "Do unto the children what they, in a manner of speaking, do unto you on a daily basis."

Hey if it's Halloween we're talking about, be sure to throw some Kayo Dot, Meshuggah and Magma into the mix! Stern Smile
