I'm cheating a bit because a lot of the tracks are a rock/jazz fusion, so of course the sucker is gonna groove. Jazz, in general, I feel is built around the groove rhythem style. Incredibly needed. With out the groove, jazz would just be a bunch of scattered and disorganized noises.
Yeah you're probably right, but it's just sounds too scattered to me. I feel their is no rhythem. It's complicated instrument arrangements that goes on and on much like what John zorn does. Also, I wish I could watch your link, but I can't bring it up. :(

"Prog" has become a general term that encompasses many styles of music that don't always relate to each other that closely. Compare Yes to Animals As Leaders, both are assigned their specific Prog sub-genre but personally I find them so different that it seems arbitrary to refer to both as Prog. The word Prog has become so vague.
Listen with your whole body. Some music grooves, some doesn't
Some "Prog" grooves, some doesn't.
Prog is not a sound-based genre, that's why it's often difficult to explain what it is.

Spoke to a blues rock fanatic yesterday, and he told me the reason prog rock is not widely loved is the fact that it does not groove, and therefore has no soul. I tried to explain to him that complex rhythms has the ability to groove fantastically, it all depends where you place the accents. He basically closed the argument by saying that most people like to groove, and few like prog, so let the evidence speak for itself. We ended up chatting about the Allman Brothers, a band we both like, and agreed to disagree on the previous subject. I dont know, does prog rock not groove?
Some prog does not groove. Some prog grooves more and is more soulful than any other kind of music I've ever heard. I think the real problems are that this blues rock fanatic has not listened to a lot of prog, he loves making blanketed/overgeneralized statements, and is close minded.
A great example is directly in your avatar. Pink Floyd has a lot of groove. Jazz fusion grooves (HERBIE HANCOCK - "I Thought It Was You".)

Do you mean that prog is defined more by conceptual manners of composition and technique (Odd times signatures, long compositions, fusing of genres, boundary dissolving etc) rather than the actual experience of the "sound" or music referred to as prog?
I am a "prog" musician myself, i'm interested to see what exactly you mean.
P.S Can anyone tell me how to make a quote box on my reply's? As you can see mine has been typed manually

No genre is characterized with experience, but just with certain technical features.
