Can Twitter be usefull to discover music?

I follow some prog blogs and pages on twitter but it more for information but there are communities for disseminating good musici suggestions on Twitter too? I was very relutant to create a Twitter account but people told me it was "a great collaborative engine". Till now, for me is just a subscribe service.
