meh, to me Division Bell is stale and too tame. It's all very predictable and with barely any excitement going on. I don't think it's a bad record, but it just sounds like Floyd going through the motions without much passion. Piper is revolutionary on all fronts and sounds like nothing else, full of wonders and surprises. It probably also helps that I love LSD and Syd but that record captures a kind of magic innocence and fantasy that few others can. |

I can't believe that so many people have voted for Division Bell. It's a nice enough album but seriously come on.

The
Let me help: The musicianship on the Division Bell is an order of magnitude greater ... which comes with practice. Never mind the sound engineering. "Peeper" has two excellent songs and the rest are, IMO, nothing special. The Division Bell is sumptuous listening throughout. The Division Bell is melodic, and the lyrics do say somethign that has a meaning and is relevant to me. The "Pooper" lyrics are more like cute, but nonsensical nursery rhymes. |

............ which album is 'A Pipper the Gates' ?? Anyway, this is really tough, as much as I've obsessed over 'Pipper' () for the last 25 years, I go for The Division Bell as it moves me on a more emotional level. I won't vote coz I love them both as much.

Division Bell as it is still fresh and has indispensable High Hopes.

The Piper is opened by the recorded voice of the first Pink Floyd's producer. High Hopes is closed by the phone call of the actual Pink Floyd producer to Charlie Gilmour. They are the same album, just the opening and the closure of a big suite 34 years long.

I can't explain this clearly (and it seems to me strange enough), but I prefer The Division Bell.

^ My personal favorites are "Cluster One" and, especially, "Marooned". And since "High Hopes" is a favorite with a lot of people here (I'm not one of those people), you might wanna check that one out too.

I don't believe I've ever even heard a track from The Division Bell. Probably should listen to it one of these days.

Voted for piper. It's got an edge to it and an eccentricity about it that is interesting.

Not for me, I still dislike music I think is boring that was undoubtedly groundbreaking 40+ years ago when it was written/released. |
