The Division Bell. It takes the lead now (11-10)
Now move on to JfF: A Pipper vs The Piper

I really don't like the Syd Barrett era Floyd at all. The psychadelic, hippy-trippy nonsense of the first two albums does very little for me.
But The Division Bell is much more mature and enjoyable.
Piper at the Gates 2*, Division Bell 4*.

I actually prefer TDB to Animals and The Wall, but TPATGOD is a masterpiece. Because TPATGOD is so good it took me several years to get to appreciate A Saucerful Of Secrets because it has the misfortune of having to follow TPATGOD.

A Pipper the Gates of Dawn is such a great album. Right behind A Dark Syd the Moon and Wish You Were Hear. But for psychedelic-era albums I prefer Sgt. Pippers Looney Hearts Club Band.
In all seriousness, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn wins over The Division Bell.

Pipper? Not just in the title but the poll as well?
Regardless, I'll go with A Pipper the Gates, although I'm not a fan of Pipper the clown, at all. The Division Bell was ok.

Piper. One of the foundation stones of progressive rock. Better than TDB, one of the foundation stones of the endless Floyd reissue campaign roundabout.

It's now 24-14 to Pippa, whoever she is.

If we talk about the real Prog, discovering, pioneering, then The Piper is undoubtedly better by a wide margin. If we talk about mere pomposity, decline, but on the other side about certain commercial success, then The Bell is just better .
So, guess what I actually prefer.

I had rather High Hopes for the Astronomy Domine,
the start and the end of studio album Floyd

Piper easily... I never understood the deal with Division Bell except "High Hopes" which is a neat song. Nothing special, but neat. I do think the softporn comment kind of nails it for me though when I think of it.

This is a tough one; I'd say they're probably about equal to me. I'm leaning a little towards Piper today, though.

High Hopes is one of the best songs ever written, not only by Floyds and Wearing the Inside Out is another materpiece, but I love Barrett too much.
