Clive Nolan--Alchemy (disc 1)

Tell me, Nick, do you embrace the thought of love at first sight?? Or crimes absolved, debts expunged?!

I'm really getting to know that album off by heart now, Professor King!

I did one of these today When I listened to Alchemy Act 1.
It's so good I started to laugh. Prog giddiness once again. and
I'm not surprised that you are almost verbatim with the lyric content of the album. It's addictive and catchy as well.
Just love it. The Ben Greives part in the unwelcome guest is really getting stuck in my head.

I am ready for broadway Micheal!!

I'll buy a ticket too, my friend!
and to be honest, I wouldn't mind serenading Amelia myself!

Yes. Support my singing and I shall get you a run in' with miss DARVAS. Lol.
Yup. My album should hit shelves next July with a special edition release of me singing in the shower.

I've got a great idea, Nick, I think I'll write to Clive and suggest he put out a karaoke version! I actually think I'd get just as much a kick out of singing the female bits as well as the male sections!

Only a couple of listens today, new training at work meant not as much time to listen to some favourites, but they were all good!

Finch - Glory of the Inner Force
Dedalus - s/t

It's pretty damn exhausting, isn't it Sagi?!

Pretty sure the second album is a bit like that too!

I'm also quite a fan of the third album, which kind of gets dismissed a bit!

A few weeks ago I bought their 3 CD set `Mythology', which comprises all three studio albums, singles, live recordings, unreleased and demo tracks, etc. Upon listening to it without looking closer at the booklet/case, something seemed kind of...wrong about it. Turns out, all the three studio album tracks order is completely rearranged!! I have no idea why, it now REALLY bugs me lol! Once I transferred them to my Ipod, I rearranged the tracks and put them back right!

Any potential buyers, just be aware of their confusing editing!

This morning....

The Alan Parsons Project--Tales of Mistery and Imagination

This afternoon.....

Symphony X--Twilight of Olympus ( incredible keyboards on this album by Pinella. So underrated.)
Rush--Hold Your Fire. ( Open Secrets and Thai Shan are more underrated and overlooked Rush songs. Love them both.)
Royal Hunt--Paradox. ( this is an unvelievable concept album that fuses about three different types of prog genres with in it. Great listen. I think I should put a review in the mix for this one. ;)

The night..... We'll see. ;)

Terrific album from the band, one of my favourites! I give that one quite a frequent spin! Wonderful organ/synths, and Aaron's vocals in superb form. Love the stormy dark mood of it.

I was excited to see your review of it, Oc! You were very fair with it, I think when I wrote about the album, I went kind of easy on it! Pleasant and forgettable.

Ha! `Tales' was one of the very first prog albums I ever bought! Really impressed me at the time (probably still does, I just don't listen to it much anymore), and it's certainly the `proggiest' of the APP albums, as much as I love (and own) all their poppier stuff too. `The Raven' is such a classic!

As for Symphony X, I'm not a big fan of that band, but I do own the solo album from Pinella, something about the `12th Gate' or something?! Sorry for my forgetful ignorance, I haven't dug it out in a long time, but although it was a little samey and overlong in parts, it was a damn good synth/piano album. I think I'll give it a listen when I start work later on!

Just came back from vacation, and my general day down there consisted of something like this:

Porcupine Tree - Moonloop (Transmission version)
Alcest - Écailles de Lune
Arcturus - The Sham Mirrors
SBB - Karlstad
Henry Fool - Men Singing
Boards Of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest
Genesis - Duke
Klaus Sculze - Moondawn
PFM - Per Un Amico
Shub Niggurath - Les Mortes Vont Vite
Boris w/ Michio Kurihara - Rainbow

Now that I think of it, that was actually last Friday - mostly spent on a beach...
I think I heard at least 10 albums a day for 15 straight days - felt insanely goodApprove

How good is this, Dave?! So forgotten and unappreciated! Lots of styles and sounds worked in! I've got the vinyl of this one, and I'd love a CD reissue so I can preserve my LP carefully!
