Mjello laddy!
How d'you like that Schulze album? I seem to remember you having a bit of difficulty getting into it a little while back, or was that only with Timewind? - I forget.... With Harald Grosskopf doing a bit of drumming, I actually think of it as a floating serene Krautrock album. For my money, it's far better than 90% of what the rest of the scene was churning out at that time - maybe except for L.A. Düsseldorf - who then again tapped into the post punk vibe. Love that Logos one too
Today for me: Black Dog Productions - Bytes Cornucopia - Full Horn
Not much yet, but I've been working all day.

Did ya 'float' comfortably in that electronic dreamscape that Mr. Schulze loves to put us into? 2nd spin this week I see.

Tangerine Dream - Zeit | Luca! I noticed you mentioned that the other day in that German thread! It's such a cold, fascinating album! I actually played the whole thing at work, not the most ideal of places, hardly creates a warm environment! Nick and Dave! I quite like `Moondawn', it's very `dance' influenced! The two I'm having problems with is `Timewind' (I find the "howling wind" sound effects on the first track a little too obtrusive, and they're mixed so much louder than the music!), and also the first `Body Love' album. I LOVE the second one, such a seamless, flowing and hypnotic FLoydian drift. But the first one...man, Harald G's drumming gives it such a Kraut-y sound! I didn't quite expect that on this one. But I just got it the other day, so I'll stick with it. It's not that I thought it was bad, just...different to what I expected! Now Dave, I have a question for you!! What do you think of Amon Duul's `Made In Germany' (either the whole 2lp version or the single `song' version). I'm very torn, equally let down as fascinated by it! I'm going to put together a review for both versions very soon, and I'd love your opinion on it!

I'm about to take a flight and it's likely that Zeit will come back to my ears during the journey. Anyway,, yesterday evening I've listened to:
Pink Floyd - The Final Cut Pink Floyd - A Momentary Leapse Of Reason David Gilmour -About Face Camel - Stationary Traveller
A revival of the 80s....

Great Krautrock album. The Pink years was TD's most guitar accompanied era. Froese explored his guitar sound so well during the late 60's to early 1970's. ;) Also. Momentary Lapse of reason is in my top 5 Floyd albums easy. Great emotional pieces of music on that album. I mean if the guitar could talk on songs like Sorrow, Not Yet Another Movie and Terminal Frost it would be a sad state of affairs. Lol

Luca, I hope your flight goes well! Boy, I'd be nervous listening to `Zeit' on a flight, talk about uneasy listening. I'd also be worried the plane would be about to be hijacked by aliens! Nick, funny you mention TD's guitar sound. As much as I love their albums like `Force Majeure', `Underwater Sunlight' etc, I don't really like it when TDream play more traditional guitar solos. I prefer stuff like the repeated lines on `Ricochet', or notes drawn out/filtered, etc to create ambience, etc. Does that make sense?

It's just nice to have the versitillity though from the band. The guitars get a little too crazy and fuzzy at times. Little hard to appreciate over the deep-sedative ambience flavor TD are mainly known for. As you know my dear friend, The Blue years are my favourite TD era (80's)

Funny how we hear these albums differently. That initial Body Love album always struck me as the "easiest" to get into Schulze album It was the one that really broke the ice for me. Since then I've discovered records of his that I have come to appreciate just as much, if not even higher - things like Blackdance and Picture Music(my current fave ), but it's still got that 'first-love' about it. Love the way Mike Shrieve complements him on those drums.
Amon Düül ll's Made in Germany eh? Yeah ermm......... hah - what can you say about it....... really, especially if you're approaching it by way of their earlier records. I sorta wish I'd heard it before getting into the wilderness of Tanz and Yeti, because it sounds so different and composed. Yeah, I know - Wolf City as well as Viva la Trance do so too, but they still retain their psychedelic DNA and somewhat loose riffing. On MiG it feels even more strict and to-the-point, and even if I have come to appreciate a lot more than when I first got it(I absolutely hated it back then!) - it still leaves me wanting more of something that continues to escape the feel of the thing. I'm not sure if I'm making any sense, but then again - I might be onto something, when we're discussing Krautrock... John Weinzierl is the real star of the album imo, but then again - when isn't he?
My listening journey today: DOM - Edge of Time Archimedes Badkar - ll Jon Hopkins - Immunity Pink Floyd - Ummagumma (studio disc) Genesis - Shapes PFM - L'Isola di Niente Neelix - Same Thing but Different

Nous avons un gout exceptionnel dans le rock progressif. La vie sans Ange est comme un jour sans soleil!
Go for any Ange studio album from the 70's and you can't go wrong
My listening for today:
