Hey Gabe, you listened to them! Was that the first time they'd been let out of that box set?!
I can assure you those Kansas ones get a chance to breathe more than that Tull boxset I have! |
Yep, finally tried those ones out. Good stuff! (Song For America, the title track, was absolutely tops! Just as you said it would be). Definitely putting together a Kansas compilation now.
You got around to the Tull one yet?

Wednesday 11th September 2013: Tangerine Dream - Tangram, Exit Zoltan - First Stage Zoltan Pollard, Daniel, Booth - Volume 2 Adelbert von Deyen - Sternzeit Hanuman - Hanuman (bit underrated and unknown this German one) Prof Wolfff - s/t (ditto this German one too, terrific album!) Gong - Flying Teapot, You. Nick, Crimson! I've only got one Devil Doll album `Sacrilegium' (was one of the very first prog albums I ever bought, I didn't know what the hell to make of it then!), and I've already dug it out to give it another spin, it's been yeeeears! Will report back, my friends!

I really really really dig that Akaska album outside of the vocals Maybe it's because I'm from Scandinavia and hear it all the time, but our past attempts at the English lingo in regards to music have largely been horrendous We're getting better, but damn.... Back then we should've stuck to our native guns imo. Nice to see all the Krautrock you've been listening to as well. Love that Krokodil debut, and I especially adore that harmonica. Anybody who's ever doubted the range and possibilities of this instrument should definitely go check out this album! Oh btw Michael - a little while back you asked me for an opinion on that Made In Germany record by ADll. I'm not sure if you caught my response, but if you did and thought I was crazy, then consider this last part of my post redundant

One thing I listened to yesterday that's worth mentioning was an audiobook (from the "33 1/3" Series) dissecting the David Bowie album "Low", my long-time favorite album by Bowie. I'd started the audiobook months ago but only just now picked it back up and finished it. Fascinating insights into a fascinating album. I'd love to be able to write music like that, but I'm not sure I have the patience.

Last night and today (Thursday) Artesia--Hilvern ( this is a good one for all you French lovers out there! :) Redemption--Snowfall On Judgement Day ( sadly the LaBrie track 'Another Day Dies' is actually the worst track on the album...the only one at that. ;) Shamall--This is Human Behaviour (love this album. Great guitar that is very Pink Floyd like from Krueller ;) Christian Death-- The Iron Mask ( classic goth rock album with a bit of a punk flavor to it. Another great recommendation from Mr. King ;) Derek Sherinian--Black Utopia ( I think this is his best album.) Fates Warning--Awaken The Guardian Goblin-- Non Ho Sonno DPERD--Io Sono Un Errore (great Italian metal/Rpi band I recently discovered.) Vangelis--El Greco ( one of my very favorites.)
