Had a fun, chilled out day. It was all Prog today. :) Devin Townsend--Ziltoid The Omiscient (love this album very much. Great character) Pink Floyd--Pulse (disc 2)--Here is where Roger was missed. Devin Townsend--Ghosts (this just proves that heavy Devy doesn't have to be heavy devy all the time. Such a great artists. Diverse as they come.) Judas Priest--Nostradamus (I had to spin this one again. It's amazing. ) Dream Theater--Live At The Budokan (Disc 1 of 3 Only) Rush--A Farwell To Kings (can't say enough about this one.) Goblin--Suspiria

Gilmore as a guest? Yup. Gotta agree. He's a sparse one on the record. Above all it is the RW show all the way. Pretty cool how when Gilmore made his Floyd vision with AMLOR and The Division Bell, he absolutely killed it! What an amazing set of Floyd albums without any Roger element at all. Just goes to show you how much waters and Gilmore are like McCArthy and Lennon. They can do great things on their own. :)

I absolutely love The Division Bell, the guitar work is so perfect But I understand why many people prefer The Final Cut to this one, as I don't like any Roger Waters solo album

I listened to it for the first time about a month ago and still haven't checked it out again. And Satin Whale! Great album yes but top 10 really?

Sagi! That Satin Whale album....It's a personal top ten album for me for sure! If my house was about to be swept away (and we've got vile stormy weather right now, the strongest winds I've heard in years, so it might happen!) and I could only take a handful of albums, that would be one I instantly think to grab. I've had it for about 15 years, I used to spin it every few weeks, and it just floors me every time! OK, so the vocals are a bit rough, but the playing is tight, and the instrumental jams have a lot of variety! I find it so addictive with no filler at all. It's a shame the few other albums of theirs I've tracked down haven't been a patch on it...and they overuse these dreadful female chorus vocalists! That Krokodil one is a stunner as well, a nice swampy take on psych/prog...I've got the LP reissue, but it's worth getting the CD instead. It comes with a ton of bonus tracks, including some lengthy instrumental jams.

I don't know any other Satin Whale albums, I actually never thought of getting any. But I do like the album very much, I actually rediscovered it about two years ago after years of not playing it, some really fine guitar work ha? I'll put it on today I've got the Krokodil CD version but i don't think I even got to the bonus tracks, it's time for a second spin since you've mentioned it.

| Damn, look at those choices, my friend!! Present - their second album, and in my top 5 absolute choices...Believe it or not, I play that one (to everyone's confusion!) almost once a week at work...absolutely essential, and it completely chills the air around you when you spin it! I recently bought the CD reissues of their first two a month or so back, but haven't been able to explore them properly yet. `Rustichelli & Bordini - Opera Prima' is one of my personal favourite RPI discs, I've always got a copy in the car. How baffling are those scratchy coarse vocals! Man, that one borders on Italian prog perfection for me, truly essential. I hope you dug the 'Whale too, man! For my selections: Canarios - Ciclos Nosferatu - s/t The Coral - Roots and Echoes (modern psych/pop perfection, a real timeless quality to this little beauty) Satin Whale - Desert Places (yes, Sagi, again! Franco Falsini - Cold Nose And then some electronic stuff: Phillip Wilkerson - Sojourner Steve Roach - The Desert Sessions: volume 1, The Delicate Beyond.
