Yes of course, it is a good album and I even played one song from it on the radio once (the third track Burning Candle) I havent played it in a few years now but I remember there are a lot of great moments, I think your description is on the spot. |

Great, Sagi! I really want to get around to writing a rave review for both that one and the Good God album - soon!
Tonight's listening: Ash Ra Tempel - s/t I Raminghi - Il Lunga Camino dei Raminghi Blakulla - s/t The Byrds - Ballad of Easy Rider P.F.M - Four Holes in the Chocolate - an INSANE boot mostly comprised of looooong and incredible jammy/improv playing from the band! Quartz - s/t - eletronic prog disco from 1978 anyone? I picked this up for $2 many years ago, I looked on the back and saw long running times, assumed it was prog....turned out otherwise! I still remember Tom Ozric's look of horror upon hearing it! Man, that is one phallic looking mountain in the background on the LP cover as well! |

Rahmann - Man, I would very much dig a CD reissue of that one, Sagi! I know Tom Ozric personally tracked down an original LP of it and paid a high price for it, but it impressed him so much he obviously just had to have it! As for the PFM, I will send you a private message! Oh, and in regards to that phallic Quartz album cover, behold! |

^What do you mean you'd love a reissue? I have the Musea reissue with 4 bonus tracks, I know there are a few more reissues of this album.

Ache - De Homine Urbano (Awesome album Michael! I really liked how well structured the epics are, and how the changes in the music flow so well. Did you also noticed the Led Zeppelin reference in the end of the first epic?)
Jorge Palma - Com uma Viagem na Palma da Mão (This RPI-like album gets better after every listen. His satirical lyrics are really good too.) |

Sam, if there was a Led Zep reference, I wouldn't have known it! I've never listened to Led Zeppelin! You see, my prog journey was bands like early Queen, then onto Floyd, then onto Moody Blues, Focus, Renaissance, Eloy, etc and all prog all the way from then on! I kind of feel Led Zep (and probably The Doors, etc) would have been early `gateway' bands that lead into prog, but I skipped them altogether, and I've since not tried to check them out. I probably should check them out at some point.

Funny that you mentioned The Doors: them and LZ were the bands that
lead me to prog. If you can listen to only one LZ song, listen to this one:
lovely acoustic guitar work and lots of Mellotron

Some very nice picks there Sagi.
I went ahead and ordered the new Guillaume Perret album after listening to the short burp on Jootoob. Couldn't help myself Then I checked out that live clip from the 2012 Defense Jazz festival and felt even better about my purchase. The, at the time, unreleased track Shoebox opens the gig and it's a ripper! If you've got 37 minutes to spare at some point, then I strongly recommend you go and see it for yourself. Oh and how do you feel about the Archimedes Badkar debut?

I watched that clip the moment you posted it, man how would I love to be there in the front row! These are some outstanding versions indeed, it's nice to see how he control all his effects, brilliant musician! About Archimedes Badkar it was only my second spin and it's definitely on the good side, I love how it sounds especially the wind instruments plus there's that ethnic flavour that I really dig. |

They truly are some gifted musicians. I especially dig the drummer during the last leg of the gig. Well the whole band really shifts into another gear altogether for the final two tracks.
Cool you dig the AB debut, or at the very least, are able to spot some nice touches to their sound. I often dance to AB actually, only with myself though, but it's still (some weird kind of) dancing. Their second album would go well with a waltz methinks. You'd have to be completely mad or on mescalin, but yes a waltz is where it's at with the second album. What was my point again? Nevermind...
